Year's End Hair Survey
Dec 1st, 2005 at 5:58pm

This year's last survey is here!

1. Have you reached any hair goals this year? If yes, what goals?

2. What is the nicest thing that has happened to your hair this year?

3. What is the nicest haircare or styling tip you learned this year?

4. Do you have any hair-related New Year's resolutions in mind?

5. Do you have any hair goals for next year? If yes, what goals?

6..If you made hair-related New Year's resolutions last year, did you manage to keep them?

7. What would you nominate as Product of the Year?

8. What would you nominate as Hairtoy of the Year?

9. What would you nominate as Hairstyle of the Year?

10. What hair-related item would you like to get as a Christmas gift from a friend or a relative?

My answers:

1. Yes. My hair grew long enough to look good down. I also managed to reduce amount of split ends radically. I think I reached some other goals too, but can't remember them right now.

2. Two things: it grew longer and its shape improved a lot. Grin

3. SBV washing routine

4. Yes. Next year, I'll trim more often (4 times). I'll pay more attention to improving my horizontal volume, even if it means a bit slower growth.

5. Thicker ends and some growth. Fine-tuning of my haircare routine, and of course I want to learn new ways to style my hair.

6. ...ummm...I managed to keep most of them. I have been nice and gentle to my hair and stayed away from salons. But I have bought quite a few cheap hairtoys. But I must say that when I made my resolution I didn't know that both Glitter and Accessorize would open shops in Finland this year. Grin

7. Chagrin Valley Lavender Spice shampoo bar. Because it's perfect in every way.

8. Longlocks hairsticks of course! They're perfect in every way too!  Cheesy

9. Cinnabun. Trendy or not, it and its variations are my favorites.

10. A pair of LL hairsticks would be nice... or a silk sleep bonnet... I don't think I'll receive any hair related Christmas presents from anyone except myself and Secret Santa though.

1. Have you reached any hair goals this year? If yes, what goals? Yes - I have reached my initial goal (the goal I had when I first joined this board) which is hip length.

2. What is the nicest thing that has happened to your hair this year? A huge order of Mamacat sticks!

3. What is the nicest haircare or styling tip you learned this year? probably Dianyla's braid-section separation technique

4. Do you have any hair-related New Year's resolutions in mind? Yes... but I'll be listing those later

5. Do you have any hair goals for next year? If yes, what goals? to reach tailbone but probably not classic, to trim off a teeny bit of ends and yet retain all the soft taper.

6..If you made hair-related New Year's resolutions last year, did you manage to keep them? For the most part. These were my 2005 resolutions:
(1) to reach hip length or possibly tailbone within 2005 *YES!!! I got in-between.
(2) to finally make up my mind about whether I want 100% uncut tapered ends. *not quite made up my mind, but I'm leaning towards tapered.
(3) to be more patient when combing out tangles *yes
(4) to not talk to RL people about my hair as if it were a fresh relationship. to keep quiet about my visiting hair boards unless the person asks for hair advice Grin *I've been good this year
(5) to remember to take vitamins and drink more water *yes Cheesy
(6) to find more innovative but safe ways to make my hair wavy and/or curly *sock curling
(7) To not worry too much about hair loss, and remember that spring will bring more growth and thickness. *This is a winter concern. We'll see...

7. What would you nominate as Product of the Year? Giovanni Direct Leave-in! Grin

8. What would you nominate as Hairtoy of the Year? Mamacat's ribbon spiral hairsticks

9. What would you nominate as Hairstyle of the Year? The classic Cinnabun - not old.... but .. old school.

10. What hair-related item would you like to get as a Christmas gift from a friend or a relative? Blondiesturn fork, though none of my friends or relatives know who Blondiesturn is.

1. Have you reached any hair goals this year? If yes, what goals?
hmm, i hoped to have had tb length by xmas, now in theory if i don't trim too much next month i could have hair stretched out to tb (it's a good cm away). i've been there before but decided i hated my ends too much and trimmed. a trim i hardly regret cuze for the first time since summer 2004 i think my ends look kinda great (they look more blunt than layered that is). i think that was kind of a goal too i didn't think i'd reach any time soon 8)

2. What is the nicest thing that has happened to your hair this year?
H E N N A & other herbs .... i will never look back at chemical dyes for sure!

3. What is the nicest haircare or styling tip you learned this year?
hmm, i still suck at many updo's to be honest. i guess ficcare will be my greatest discovery cuze those clips look so damn handy to use for morons as myself. but the ones i ordered seem not to arrive any time soon. i think i'll call straight to ficcare very soon!

4. Do you have any hair-related New Year's resolutions in mind?
try to trim a bit less until i reach that darn 1 m of hair!!!
and get a MP BBB!

5. Do you have any hair goals for next year? If yes, what goals?
actually i hope to kinda reach my flexible final goal within 2006: hair that is even at it's most wavy state at tb and no more layers in the main bulk of my hair (ex-bangs might take slightly longer to catch up), hemline cut into a U. i guess for that i have to grow until stretched length close to classic.

6..If you made hair-related New Year's resolutions last year, did you manage to keep them?
did i? i think i stuck to monthly trims and am proud of it!

7. What would you nominate as Product of the Year?
euh, i am gonna pass here, still don't believe in the holy grail in haircare!

8. What would you nominate as Hairtoy of the Year?
i'd like to say ficcare but ... you guessed it: they are not here yet godamnit!

9. What would you nominate as Hairstyle of the Year?
euh, i so want that double loop bun to work again, for some strange reason i always have some hairs pulling!

10. What hair-related item would you like to get as a Christmas gift from a friend or a relative?
a whole set of ficcare and an MP brush. Grin Grin Grin
btw, i've seen a lot of absolutely stunning LL sticks recently, but with all other stuff on my list, i won't be able to get any any time soon (and i want one of those entirely neat boxes!)

1. Have you reached any hair goals this year? If yes, what goals?  I've grown back the 6 inches I cut off in February!

2. What is the nicest thing that has happened to your hair this year?  Even though my ends are still a mess they're in much better shape since I started taking care of them properly.

3. What is the nicest haircare or styling tip you learned this year?  Oil.  Oil, oil, oil, oil, oil.

4. Do you have any hair-related New Year's resolutions in mind?  In 2006 I'll concentrate more on removing damage rather than increasing length.

5. Do you have any hair goals for next year? If yes, what goals? See #4

6..If you made hair-related New Year's resolutions last year, did you manage to keep them?  I didn't make any.

7. What would you nominate as Product of the Year?  Red palm oil; it softens my nasty ends and softens my skin as well.  Great stuff.

8. What would you nominate as Hairtoy of the Year?  My titanium Argus double-crimped hairfork.  I use it every evening after I take off my LL sticks and it holds well, it's lightweight and strong, and since it's curved I can lie down with it in and it doesn't hurt.

9. What would you nominate as Hairstyle of the Year?  Rose bun.  If it weren't for the rose bun I wouldn't have been able to put my hair up these last few weeks.

10. What hair-related item would you like to get as a Christmas gift from a friend or a relative?  More LL sticks would be great.   Grin

1. Have you reached any hair goals this year? If yes, what goals?

My hair reached hip length and really surprised me when I realized it had.  When I sit down it curls up in my lap and I have to pet it like my cat. Wink

2. What is the nicest thing that has happened to your hair this year?

I stopped using chemical dyes and began using henna and senna to dye my hair.  They have improved the condition of my hair dramatically and it will never be touched by chemical dye again!

3. What is the nicest haircare or styling tip you learned this year?

I think the different hairwashing concepts.  I have really been enjoyng CWC.

4. Do you have any hair-related New Year's resolutions in mind?

To find a set of products that both my hair and I can agree upon. Wink  (It seems to like silicone, but I want to use something natural.)
To treat my hair even more carefully than I have been.
To learn what products work best for me.
Start taking hair-related vitamins.
Learn more braids and ways to put my hair up before it gets so long that I need minions to do it for me!

5. Do you have any hair goals for next year? If yes, what goals?

To reach classic length.  My hair reached hip length this year and was waist length last year, so I think it will happen.

6..If you made hair-related New Year's resolutions last year, did you manage to keep them?

I did not make any last year.

7. What would you nominate as Product of the Year?

The Ionic Hair Wand from Sharper Image.  It is amazing!  It smooths my hair whenever I use it, does not pull and removes any icky smells it has picked up out of the air, like cigarette smoke or cooking odors.  I picked up the rechargable one and I have been carrying it around for weeks without recharging, it is great!

8. What would you nominate as Hairtoy of the Year?

The purpleheart hairstick my hubby turned.

9. What would you nominate as Hairstyle of the Year?

Buns!

10. What hair-related item would you like to get as a Christmas gift from a friend or a relative?

A horn comb.

1. Have you reached any hair goals this year? If yes, what goals?  I didn't really have long term goals, but when I decided "I want healthy hair" I did achieve it.  So I guess, the answer is yes!

2. What is the nicest thing that has happened to your hair this year?It is healthier than it's ever been.  I think it's also the longest I've ever had it now.

3. What is the nicest haircare or styling tip you learned this year?Shea butter!  Love the stuff

4. Do you have any hair-related New Year's resolutions in mind?Continue to have a healthy hair care routine.  Always look for ways to improve.

5. Do you have any hair goals for next year? If yes, what goals?Maybe look into the things I haven't this year - like getting a better hair towel or something.

6..If you made hair-related New Year's resolutions last year, did you manage to keep them?I didn't have any hair related ones this year - I only started paying attention to my hair about 5/6 months ago

7. What would you nominate as Product of the Year?Shea butter!  Smiley

8. What would you nominate as Hairtoy of the Year?Hair sticks!!

9. What would you nominate as Hairstyle of the Year?Ooh, tough one.  Maybe Chinese buns - because they look complicated but they are actually really easy to make.

10. What hair-related item would you like to get as a Christmas gift from a friend or a relative?Any hair toy would do - I like seeing what other people will pick out because sometimes you limit yourself when you buy for yourself.  And you might not realize something else would look good on you.  I also like hand made toys!

1. Have you reached any hair goals this year? If yes, what goals?  I don't have a 'set' length I'm going for.  The ticker I have lets me know how far along my natural hair growth is.  I did, however, stopped playing with my hair and overbrushing.

2. What is the nicest thing that has happened to your hair this year? It is healthier than last year, even though it went through processing.  I can't imagine what it will be like when the dyed hair is gone! =)

3. What is the nicest haircare or styling tip you learned this year?Sweet almond oil and jojoba oil is better than hair shine serum.

4. Do you have any hair-related New Year's resolutions in mind? Keep growing -- but more importantly, take care of my hair and body.

5. Do you have any hair goals for next year? If yes, what goals? Learn to self crown braid.  I'm getting there.  I have problems when the braid starts going by my ear.  I feel like I need a different set of directions.  Dreamweaver's talks about starting the braid, and two steps over, it's done.  I'm like "HUH?"

6..If you made hair-related New Year's resolutions last year, did you manage to keep them?I wanted to dye my hair black...and I did. =P

7. What would you nominate as Product of the Year? Oils!

8. What would you nominate as Hairtoy of the Year?Velvet scrunchies!  They don't cause headaches.

9. What would you nominate as Hairstyle of the Year?Twist braid, herringbone braid, and 5 strand.  And 4 strand square.  My hands are very nimble Grin

10. What hair-related item would you like to get as a Christmas gift from a friend or a relative?Any hair stick or product.  I have Chagrin Valley soaps on the way, so I get to look forward to that!

Very good survey!!
