Hair Strengthening
Dec 22nd, 2005 at 1:02am

Hi, I'm new on here and have an interest in have medium length healthy hair. I am a 22 year old male with hair that at is longest is about 3 inches, shorter on the sides and back, and it's straight, fine, and medium blonde. The problem I am having is a little unique. Where I work there is an issue of me getting my hair pulled. I am now starting to notice that some hairs are sticking up completely curly (like done with a crimper). I have tried lots of things to help strengthen my hair such as hot oil treatments, pantene overnight/ heat treatments, and garnier fructis long and strong leave in. I use dove intense moisture and am gentle on my hair. I never use a blow dryer and don't chemically treat my hair. The frizzy/crimped looking hairs do not straighten and i am tempted to just pull them out. Any ideas. Thanks

When you take a shower, use cold water.  That is my suggestion

I have those too Undecided, but they are DAMAGED hair so i don't think there is anyway to repair them- prevent them maybe- i get them up on top of my head so i just cut them or pull them out Tongue i know that's not good, but leaving them is also bad.

Do you take vitamins like Biotin, and eat healthy- i know i don't Roll Eyes

Good Luck Smiley

I would suggest covering your hair somehow while at work so it doesn't get pulled. It certainly won't grow very long at that rate.  Undecided

Beesan is right, though. Once hairs are damaged, there is no way to repair them.

It is essential to get regular trims while growing out damaged hair. Other than that, it seems like you have a pretty good regimen. There's nothing I could really suggest adding to it at this point. Best of luck, and welcome aboard.  Smiley

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to try a cold rinse when I wash my hair tonight. I was thinking about wearing a hat but I thought the breakage they cause might be worse. Anyone's guess i suppose but worth a try over getting your hair pulled. I am going to have a trim next week and hopefully it gets better with time. I take my regular centrum, calcium, vitamin c, and alpha lipoic acid. I also try to eat well and do work out so I'm hoping that does some good. Thanks again for all the advice. I really appreciate it.

Is there any way you could wear a bandana or scarf over your head and braid or pony tail the rest?
I don't know if that would go over with your work dress code or a hat, yes.

My hair isn't really long enough to tie and I hadn't worn a hat previously because it was a person's home. The job is an in-home respite so the dress is informal, but that hat might seem rude. I think I'm going to just have to be more careful. It only happens every few weeks and less if I am more cautious. Thanks again for the replies. The ice cold rinse with conditioner made my hair feel softer for  bit to.
