Firefly42's hair journal
Jan 28th, 2006 at 10:47pm

I bow to the inevitable.

Not really; I've been thinking about doing this for a while and have finally decided to take the plunge. Cheesy

It's Saturday, which means my poor hair finally gets a respite from all the things I do to it during the week.  On Friday nights I fill it with conditioner, which I leave in overnight and all day, beforing shampooing on Saturday nights.  Generally, I wash every other day; I haven't been able to train my scalp to go any longer because of school; I figure that's what the summer if for. Grin

Anyone else have a serious hairtoy addiction?  I buy most of my toys at claire's, and their "buy one get one half off sales" are going to kill me!

lol @ Firefly42 & BB

Just as a sidenote, I'd be wary of anything from Claire's. They have cute stuff, yes, but most of it is made fairly cheaply and is loaded with harsh seams. Sad
I love to load up on gawth jewelry there, but I can't wear their earrings because they're made of surgical steel, which my ears seem highly allergic to.  Angry  Sux.

Anyway, congrats on starting your new hair journal, Firefly42!  Cheesy

Hey ya'll.

School today, so I needed something simple and fast to do to my hair (I get up a t 5 am, so complicated is NOT an option).  Pulled it into a half ponytail and then clipped the strange barette thing I got at claire's over it(finally! a way to use the darn thing!)

Well, it's up early tomorrow so i am Off to bed!

When you create your ticker at http://www.tickerfactory.com/ they give you the code that you can place in your signature.  The bbCode option is what works here.

Ahhh, Bikerbraid got to ya first  Wink  Glad to see you got it working, pretty choice!  So, you're almost waist-length?  Wow!  If I could ever, maybe, possibly (pleeeeez!) grow an additional 10 inches, I could be a waist length for the first time in my entire life.  That's my ultimate goal!

BikerBraid: THanx!

Maggie: I wish I were almost waist length!  No, i'm actually just at BSL.

Friday, so that means conditioning my hair heavily, and leaving it in, to make up for the times I've skipped conditioning this week ( I know, Shame on me).  i sorta-kinda rinsed it out, but will actually was it tomorrow night in preparation for church on sunday.

Other then that, nothing new, really.

Ah, saturday.  My favorite day of the week! (sleeping in is SO nice)

Hair: simply braided in a single braid, since i'm being lazy today and refusing to do anything with it.  I'll have to wash it tonight, but that's about it!

Other stuff:  being lazy and not doing anyting today.  I've already done my homework and cleaned the neighbor's house (she pays me to keep it nice while they work on selling it, as they've already moved out), so I have the rest of the day free to read!  (or suf the hair boards, to see what i've missed this week while I was in school...)

It's pouring rain here and I'm so tempted to go run around outside and get soaked!  I love playing in the rain (although my brother tells me it's immature, but who cares, right?)

I don't particularly like Mondays.  Not that they're bad in and of themselves, it just means I have five more days before Saturday comes and I can sleep in as long as I want.  (Heaven knows how I'm going to cope in the real world when I have an actual job.)

Anyway... Monday.  That means school.  Today is my "dress up" day; I try to wear something nice to school (the rest of the week, as long as it doesn't stand up on it's own, it's good).

So: My hair.  Pulled it into a high ponytail, twisted it into a rope braid, and twisted that into a bun, securing with bobby pins (must remember to get my hands on some regular hair pins!), then stuck a hair fork in it for decoration.  It looked great with my chenille sweater.

The weather here has gotten cold again after 2-3 weeks of perfect 60-65 degree weather (highly unusual for the northeast).  I hate the cold.  Give me rain, give me fog, I'm happy, but cold?  Blech.

Well, School tomorrow so I should shut up and go to bed (I can hear it calling my name....)

Only two days until saturday and I can sleep in!

Hair:  Need to somehow find time to do a S&D in the near future; I was examining my hair in math class today (don't worry, I was still paying attention), and I found a bunch of split ends.

Other then that, my hair has been on its best behavior; I think it may have something to do with the fact that I stopped using any kind of detangling agent on it.  I actually retired my hairbrush before christmas, but about two weeks ago I lost my plastic comb and haven't really put a lot of effort into finding it again.  I've found that letting my hair airdry naturally and then finger combing it works great and I don't have to worry about ripping my hair out as much.  Tangles are kept to a minimum by braiding at night and almost always putting it all up during the day.

So...time's fun when you're having flies, right?  or something like that.  Still, a year is a VERY long time.

I've only got about 3 inches before i hit waist length...I'm very excited about this!  I recently dyed my hair purple...not all of it but a good portion; I discovered this great Temporary stuff from Loreal called Color pulse that let me experiment without actually having to permanently dye my hair.

Last week I discovered my hair is finally long enough to effectively use hairsticks again, I was EXTREMELY excited!

apparently red, even red that's "supposed" to be temporary, NEVER comes out!  Not that I particularly care....except when it turns pink...i'm not so cool with the pink...

ooh, pink...  Undecided  sorry to hear that firefly! i've still got streaks of purple tinge from last summer! I think "temporary" actually means "until it fades to a wonky color and you re-dye it" Sad good luck with the hair goals though... shooting for waistlength here (again) too.

SO i got bored the other day and cut my own hair, which is normally okay but this time i really botched the job and had to let my mother fix it...now my hair barely reaches my shoulders.  I can't remember the last time it was this short...probably about six years ago, but i also can't remember the last time it felt this healthy and soft.  So in the end my stupidity worked out good.  I'm tempted to dye the whole thing purple so at least as it fades it'll all fade consistently but I start the Radiology program at school soon and I think hospitals frown on that sort of thing.  So we'll see.

Hey there, just read your journal for the first time.  I am curious what you are taking at school if I might ask.

As for your comment about early mornings and working...I personally found I prefered work a whole lot more than shool.  At least once you get home your day is done...no school work, no worries about exams...ok, the house still needs working on and I think you get more picky about that once you graduate (unless it is exam time when everything that has been a mess for the semester suddenly has to be perfect before you can study).  I used to get up at 5 am when I went to school too (well for one of the Universities, the other I was right next door so I got to sleep in a lot) and now that I go to work I get up at 4 am.  In the winter when it is so very dark until near 8 and the snow can make the roads bad, I hate it, but the rest of the year it is not so bad.  And it is so much fun to leave work at 3 while the late comers are working until 5.

I am so sorry to hear you had to cut your hair...but if it makes it healthier, it is probably for the best.  Your hair must grow really fast if it was going to make it from BSL to waist length in 4 and some months.  You lucky girl.

As for coloring your hair purple before you do your radiology, I would ask someone about that.  They can be fussy about appearances.  Depends on where you are going.

I'm about to start the radiology program.  Assuming i decide to go through with it...i don't like the way the program is set up.

It's summer so despite the HOT and the HUMID my hair should grow fairly quickly...i can't wait until it's long enough for hairsticks to stay again...as soon as i reach that part I'm treating myself to a pair of Ketylo sticks!  A reward (read: bribe) for staying away from the scissors.
