Come On. You Know You Do.
Feb 18th, 2006 at 12:23am

Do any of you guys sometimes do things to your hair that would fall under the category of mistreatment. I know that if I'm in a hurry I sometimes comb too fast and will get a snag. Am I the only one who will (once in a while) forget to be gentle and abuse my hair? I think I also becoem lazy sometimes and just go to bed with my hair ina pony tail an dthe ends unprotected.

Embarrassed all the time. Embarrassed Rarely do I put my hair up or protect it at night, I really like it down at night...actually I kind of fan it up over the top of my pillow.  I have been known to comb too fast sometimes too.
Despite my ungentle habits, my hair is continuing to grow. Thanks be to God. 8)

The only thing I've done "semi-recently" (say within the past year) was sleep on flannel pillowcases.  Tongue

Boy did I learn the hard way how baaaaad flannel is for hair!! Especially fine hair.

Fortunately, that all changed when I bought satin pillowcases & am happy to report that all of the damage from said godawful flannel is slowly growing out.

ummmm.....we had bought a straightener, and i wanted to try it Lips Sealed, i only tried it on one strand, i swear Embarrassed.

Well, that's it, except for the usual accidental breaking when I'm putting in the hair sticks- but I'm being more gentle and careful Smiley

When I take it out of a ponytail, many times I'll just take out the hair tie fast and rip hair.  Shocked I know, it's awful. I'm getting much more careful, but it still happens.

I fondle my hair all the time. ~__~
I have gotten better about it, though.

I do the same thing as Pan. I play with my hair whenever it's down. I usually wear it up in a bun for this reason...and to protect it from other things, of course.

And I'll admit to another problem as well: my boyfriend.  Undecided  As a construction worker who was raised by wolves, things like delicacy and gentleness are foreign concepts to him. He is very rough with my hair, which all stems from carelessness and obliviousness.
On a daily basis, my hair will sometimes get pinned under his elbow when we're lying down together or caught between his arm & torso. He will often drag his arm heavily across my hair...not intentionally, of course. He is naturally just a bull in a china shop and sometimes I either forget to take precautions against him or just can't. It's quite frustrating!  Angry  But there isn't a whole lot I can do, aside from wearing a slumber cap whenever we lay together.

I never EVER let him brush or handle my hair in any way, however. Partly because he has never offered or tried, but mostly because I'm terrified of the potential damage that he would doubtlessly cause.
I definitely have the wrong hair type for the boyfriend that I've got. Or maybe...I've got the wrong boyfriend for the hair type that was given to me. Either way, the 2 do not get along.

*chuckle* this all reminds me of something Sherlock Holmes said once about a delicate finesse usually being the product of higher education.  Grin  tee-hee
