Hello from the Orient!
Mar 13th, 2006 at 1:58pm

Hello Rapunzels!

My hair is just growing out after being bobbed for quite some time now, and I recently dug out a couple of old hairsticks. Unfortunately, one of the danglies broke on one of them and I went a-googling to find where to get some, stumbled upon LongLocks.com and, as they say, the rest is history!

This was just last month, mind you, and I already have seven pairs gleaming away next to me in their display case with a couple more Geishas on their way. I love the Geishas!

Anyway, thought I'd say hello rather than lurk around in here. These are a couple of photos of my new hairsticks:

...

...

My hair is just past the shoulders, slightly more layered than I would like, and I just put some highlights in. Oh, and I just cut my bangs too! Cheesy

Look forward to getting to know you guys xx

Greetings and welcome, TigerLily.  Smiley

Nice hairsticks! The style you're using them in looks pretty too. How long is your hair now?

Look forward to getting to know you better, too. And if you have any questions, be sure to post them. The long-haired ladies and lords here are quite knowledgeable & experienced. Plus, we all look forward to learning new things.  Grin

Happy growing!

Hiya, thanks for the welcome!

I just added this to my original post: "My hair is just past the shoulders, slightly more layered than I would like, and I just put some highlights in. Oh, and I just cut my bangs too!"

So when I flip my ponytail up and over, and tuck it in, the stubby ends poke my scalp and make it itch! Hopefully it grooooooooooooows out soon Tongue

Welcome TigerLily.  I love that name.  I have grown Tiger Lilies for years and always enjoy watching them bloom with their delicate petals.

Your hair looks fantastic with the hairsticks - so elegant.  Thanks for sharing your pictures.  I look forward to getting to know you even better.

It's called "Elegant Gibson" in the LongLocks.com Hair Gallery.

The Elegant Gibson hairstyle is a bit more complicated but the results are very pretty. This is a gorgeous updo hairstyle for weddings, though it won't work on extremely long hair, especially if it's very thick. Create a ponytail, but don't make it too close to your head, leave some space between your head and the ponytail holder. Gently pull your hair apart above the ponytail holder to create a sort of "pocket." Flip the ponytail up and tuck it inside the pocket. Try to evenly distribute the hair so you don't end up with a bulge anywhere. Make sure you push the ponytail holder into the pocket far enough to hide it. Use an in and out motion with two hairsticks to "stitch" the rolled hair to the hair on your head and keep it in place.

Hope that helps, Galadriel? (Love the name Wink)

Welcome!!  You're hair looks lovely and so healthy.  The Gibson looks great with the Geisha sticks.  Good combo!  Enjoy the Gibson - I love that style, but once your hair gets too long they're hard to hole up.

Hi hi, Khrome! Actually, the Gibson is already beginning to poke and itch my scalp at this length. Alas, it is too short for any of the other styles. Undecided

Your hair is beautiful, Tiger Lily. Welcome to our nook. I am an Asian hair type as well - there aren't many of us on the hair boards. I look forward to reading your posts and seeing more photos of your fabulously shiny hair.

Brightest blessings
