The Terrible Truth
May 26th, 2006 at 9:46pm

Have you noticed that every single actress out there has a flawless face, body and hair? I have noticed that many people suffer from depression because of what the media shows us. A look of " beyond perfection" that is not human. It is impossible for hundreds of actors and actresses to be so good looking merely because beauty is valued for its scarcity. Otherwise plainess would be revered. Therefore actors and actresses are plain people hiding behind masks and today I intend to prove it. You need not be unsatisfied with yourself anymore. In fact there are probably a good deal of people in this forum who look better than these people you will see. People who grace the cover of all the celebrity magazines out there.
Hollywood is fake. A good deal of us look better than these people. Yet they are still idolized! This is a false cult.

I hope people will stop being depressed over "not being pretty enough."

Unfortunately, most of  the people seen here  are wearing some make up anyway in these images (foundation).

Hi Sara,  great links  Smiley I like to watch guys faces when they look at their dream girls without make-up.....  Grin  Grin  Grin
Every great now and then pictures like the ones in the links are being published. And I think this is important. Especially for teenage girls who like to compare themselves with some celebrity.
And yes, Sara, you are so right: we have a lot of beautiful people on this board.  Smiley A lot more beautiful than any make-up can make anybody!

Is it evil that I get a little giggle out of seeing Oprah or Nicole without makeup?

Hollywood just really wants you to see the fantasy as reality.. that's their job.  And while screen actors and actresses from the 30's, 40's and 50's were fashion icons of their day, people of that time were not literally bombarded with the images of their icons 24/7 as we are in this mass media frenzied world.

Just another reason to turn off the TV once and awhile... (or, better yet, once and for good Smiley )

I feel sorry for these women. They have made their "made-up" faces the norm and now it's unexceptable for them to be seen without it. Make-up can really just hide the real you.
So many girls/women wouldn't be caught dead without it on. I am happy with my natural face (not that I won't do anything to help it stay healthy) and I hope you all can be too.

Well, I don't feel sorry for them because they know what they are doing. Thy're endorsing a false image for millions of dollars. They know they're fake.
Lol, I do turn my tv off alot because not only am i tired of the assault on my mind...but the shows are mostly boring nowadays.

Thanks Sara for those great links.

We are all beautiful in one way or another, having a beautiful face or body is immaterial.

I have self-esteem isssues sometimes- overweight, acne. It makes me feel so much better that celebs look exactly like everyone else without makeup on. Whats ironic is, if you look at some magazines that have celebs in them and you see one without makeup there will be comments like "look how terrible they look!"
Hello! They look exactly like you!  Roll Eyes Hippocrites Angry

Hi Sexywitch,

I'm sorry to hear you have self-esteem issues but I am sure they are unfounded. No one else will notice, we only notice these things no one else does. I look in the mirror and hate what I see sometimes but then I look away and focus on how I would like to think I look then put a smile on my face and avoid mirrors. Always makes me feel better. Beauty is inside us so although these celebs can look beautiful, we've all heard stories about how nasty they can be, somehow mutes the beauty you can see doesn't it. Don't forget too, that most of the pictures you see of them are airbrushed to look perfect, I bet even they don't recognise themselves in the mags.

Thanks Jules. I dont feel that way all the time. It used to be a lot worse. Especially in middle school. Kids can be so cruel. But since finding my spiritual path, it has made me feel more empored as a woman. And if I'm going to lose weight, its going to be for me and for my health. Not to look like some snobby, "I'm so much better then you" celebrity.  Grin
