A simple hair question?
Jun 11th, 2006 at 2:22am

Hello everyone.... i need HELP! i recently started my summer internship at a farm and it seems like my hair will be in the hot sun for most of the day and exposed to all kinds of things like birds and humidity... i was wondering if there is any way i could still keep it healthy besides covering it with a hat... any suggestions will be appreciated... Thank you in Advance ... ~*Armaris*~

I think wearing a bandana over a french or dutch braid or pig tails might help.
Do you not like to wear hats?
You could probably use a scarf to cover your hair, too.  Galadriel does a covered bun, I think she calls it a scarf bun.

Good Luck!

Hi Armaris! Keeping your hair in braids like Sakina suggested or putting it in a bun would be a good idea. Since you're going to be outdoors a lot, those styles will protect your ends. Also, try to keep your hair from drying out. Put a little shea butter or plant-based oil on the ends to help keep it moisturized.

HTH. Good luck with the internship! Smiley

I would suggest either braids or a bun with a scarf to protect your hair.  When I am working on our land in the heat and sun, I will put my hair into a bun then put a scarf on.  This keeps the bugs, birds and branches out of my hair.

If mosquitos, ticks or gnats will be a problem, spraying the scarf with repellant will also help keep the bugs away without having to spray your hair.

You can also use the sun to your advantage, Armaris!  Try slicking on some oil (like JoJoba) or a leave-in conditioner... it'll help protect your locks from the sun by working as an extra barrier, and the warmth from the sun will help deep-condition your hair.   Smiley
