Head band
Jun 14th, 2006 at 12:04pm

I have very long, very thick, and very curly hair.  The only thing I have found to effectively keep it pulled back is a comb-like head band that is made of flexible zig-zag plastic and goes all the way around the head and hooks together.  Some people have called them "fro combs" but I have been unsuccessful in finding them by that name.  Does anyone know what I'm talking about and, if so, where I can get them?  Thank you in advance for your reply.

Welcome!

I've heard them called Alice bands, but that has been primarily by people in Europe.

The Hair Boutique MarketPlace has some headbands that are similar to what you are describing.

Scunci also carries a couple of headbands that might work for you.

I'll keep looking - I know what you are looking for - I just might get lucky today and find it!

I think this is what you are looking for.  Interesting - I can find sources in the UK for it but not in the US, yet I know I have seen them here (and in fact I have owned one in the past!).

Hey Jane!

Yes, I had one, but I gave it away because the little teeth from the headband kept getting stuck in my hair..ouch!

But I'm glad it works for you!

I bought it at Wal*Mart, by the way, but I have seen them at Target, and I think CVS pharmacy

I think Eckard and Rite-Aide carry them.

Yes, I've found them at CVS, Wal-Mart, and Meijers.

Any of you know what the brand name is for these bands?

I have purchased a few from the different discount stores but the problem I have is most of them are the very flimsy plastic and just won't hold my thick mane.  The ones I have success with have the little round balls on one end of each zig zag, if anyone knows what I'm talking about.  I sincerely appreciate everyone's comments.  Long hair ROCKS!
