How to choose???
Sep 8th, 2006 at 6:00pm

So...
My mom gave me some birthday money for the express purpose of purchasing hairsticks (yippee!!) so now after drooling over LL sticks for...gosh, three years? I finally get to pick out my first pair!!!   Cheesy

I'm thrilled but cannot make up my mind for anything.  Does anyone have tips for decisively chooing a first (and only for awhile) pair of hairsticks?

First look at what is available. (They go sooo fast!)  Something will pop out as fabulous (probably several).  Check the prices. (from $20 for a single men's stick -which lots  of women wear- to $95 for a special edition pair) You are sure to have color preferences based on your wardrobe.  Maybe you like swingy things (swings or Geishas) or maybe you don't. If your hair is very thick and extremely long, you'll need rapunzel length sticks.  Decide which ones you can't live without, and can afford, then order! (You may have to layaway for a few months if it's too much - but that's okay too!)

I planned on spending less than $50 for my first order, but fell in love with a special edition. So I layed it away.  Then I ordered a second pair that I couldn't live without a few days later.  I didn't join the collector's club till afterward, and that was a mistake.

Join the collector's club first so you can start building up points and getting discounts.  Have fun!  Congrats!

Yep, oldkathy makes great suggestions.  I tend to first look for favorite colors that will go with my wardrobe best.  This way I wear them LOTS!  That's important when you start out with just one pair.  Grin

New sticks are added to the site on a regular basis.  If you want to know when, sign up for either the collector's club or the LongLocks Newsletter.  Susan then sends out an email whenever new sticks are posted.

Good luck on selecting your first pair - you will be addicted quickly!

Thanks...

I did make a decision, for not one pair but TWO.  Shocked

It was amazing how much easier the choice was when I realized that:

A) The pair I'd been looking at since July was still available!!  (YIPPEEE!) and

B) Many others were already sold, sometimes whole pages.  That narrowed my choices down to four, and I easily chose two from there.

I just logged back so I could show hubby my second pair, and you cannot believe the little thrill that hit me when I saw "SOLD" on it and realized they'd been sold to me!  I don't think I've ever waited to purchase something (except my house) for so long...I'm practically dancing.

Congratulations!  Don't forget you can start a Collections post to show your sticks here.  Just PM me with the name you used to order your sticks and the names of them (helps to have the names, but it is not absolutely necessary).  I'll then have Susan create your Collection!

They're not here yet!! Cry

I saw the postman pull up today and I was tempted to run out and grab the mail from him, but I figured I'd start slobbering and screaming "GIVE ME MY HAIRSTICKS!!" but I didn't really like that image of me, so I held back.  Plus I was in my PJs (laundry day), and it's a really bad hair day.  But I ran out right after he left, (being sure to make sure no one was around first to catch me on my ugly day) and they weren't there.  Pooh.

I really, really hope they show tomorrow...I want to wear the Rosaline Vine for my sister's wedding this weekend.  How long does First Class take, anyway?  Maybe it's wishful thinking. Undecided

(Please Susan and everyone else don't take this as a complaint...of course it's early yet; I'm just venting my impatience...I just really want to see those beautiful hairsticks in person.  Just thought I'd make that clear!)

Oh, I can so relate!  One pair of mine is a special order, so I know it will be 4 - 6 weeks, but I, too, am really anxious to see them in person.  It will definitely be worth the wait.

Congrats on your purchase scrapgirl, hope you get them soon! I'm sure you've picked very beautiful sticks Wink (they're all beautiful)!!!

Very good suggestions Kathy and Bikerbraid.  I've just decided to order my first pair of sticks as well and also found the choices very overwhelming.  I hadn't read about the news letter or the collectors club so, I'll make sure I take advantage of those.

I tend to wear darker colors in the fall and winter so my first color will definitely be black.  The only thing is the ones I love have already been sold, so I'll have to see if I can get a special order. Wish me luck.

They're here, they're here!!!  They are even more beautiful than I thought...and they make my dull hair look amazing!  I will be wearing Rosaline Vine for my sister's wedding on Saturday; I'll be sure to post pictures.

Yes, they are always more beautiful IRL than in pictures!  Smiley

I picked my first pair (appears also as the first pair on my collection page) in most simple way possible: I totally fell in love with it the moment I saw it. Now, 50 pairs later, it's still one of my "staple" pairs that seems to go amazingly well with everything.

Congratulations!!  Can't wait to see the pics.

For my first pair, it was easy - they "called" to me.  lol  They had rose quartz which is one of my favorite stones.  For all my other sticks, I usually looked for ones that would match my clothes.  Luckily my closet does not have a diverse color palette or else I'd be broke.   Grin

My wardrobe is rather ascetic: plain clothes in white, browns, grays and black. Too bad that almost any hairstick color goes with them...

My wardrobe is mainly black, white, turquoise, red, and purple.  Those will be the colors of my sticks.  So far, I only have red...need lots more Wink
