Hi, I'm new to the site, my name is Angie

I'm 43, married and have 3 kids and 2 grandkids.
My name is Angie, but the grandchildren call me dramma. Smiley

How long is your hair?  waist length
What color is your hair?  auburn
Is your hair straight/curly/wavy?  curly and wavy
Do you have favorite products to use on your hair? Pantene
What are your favorite hair accessories?  silk scrunchy which I like because it doesn't tangle in my hair at all.
I color my hair but only the new growth to cover the gray.
I'm not thrilled with Pantene, but I don't know of a better product. I use a little conditioner in a bottle of water to mist my hair to calm the frizz....but it leaves my hair dull. Frizz ease makes my hair kinda oily looking.
I never use rubber bands or metal clips... I don't blow dry or use heat elements.
Well that's about it for me. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Great site. Grin

Welcome Angie!

Your hair sounds lovely!  Auburn colored hair is one of my favorites!

You might try Kimberlily's Leave-in Spray instead of your conditioner spray to control your frizzies.  This spray is easy to make and does not build up on your hair like your conditioner (especially if your conditioner has -cones in it).  Hang around here and you are sure to learn lots and get many ideas on how to handle your hair.

I look forward to getting to know you better.  Cheesy

Welcome to longlocks, Angie!  Thanks for the details.
I think I mentioned it to you somewhere around here about Ouidad's products for curly/wavy hair.
If I didn't mention it, you can find them at www.ouidad.com.

I hope you'll post some pictures of your hair, I'd love to see the color!!!

YESSS!!! Another Pantene user!!  Grin  hehehe

Welcome aboard, Angie...your hair sounds gorgeous!

Unfortunately, I don't know thing one about having curly/wavy hair, so I'll let the ladies with that hair type recommend things for you. I don't know the procedure.  Undecided

But best of luck & happy growing anyways.  Smiley

Welcome! Pantene contains lots of silicone derivatives (the ingredients that end to -cone). They may dry hair and make it more frizzy.

You could try clarify your hair and add moisture it. Here's the recipe I use:

you will need: baking soda, a silicone free conditioner (health food stores carry these), honey, aloe vera gel (as close to 100% pure aloe vera as possible), and moisturizing silicone free deep conditioner.

1. Go to the shower and wet your hair. Pour a big blob of conditioner onto your palm and add a teaspoonful of baking soda. Mix and apply to your hair. Scrub, but do not pile hair atop your head. It will feel like you have sand in your hair, but it's normal. You may need more than one "dose" of conditioner/baking soda mix. Rinse well. Your hair should now feel squeaking clean. Blot dry gently with a soft towel.

2. Prepare the moisture mix (aka. Snowy's Deep Moisture Treatment). Mix 1/4 part of honey, 1/4 part of aloe vera gel and 1 part of deep conditioner. Heat in a microwave oven for 6-10 seconds- until warm but not hot, and stir again. Apply the mixture to your hair. Cover with a shower cap and let sit for at least one hour. Rinse well. Your hair should now feel clean and moisturized.

*You can do deep moisture treatments as often as you like without clarifying- they are very good for hair. But NEVER clarify without following with a moisture treatment- besides product residue, clarifying will strip your hair of its natural beneficial oils, and unless you replace the moisture, it will make your hair dry and brittle. It is not advisable to clarify your hair more than 3-4 times a year.

*Rinsing your hair with apple cider vinegar (1 tbsp to a big glass of water) is a more gentle treatment that helps with cleaning product residue, but if you have used commercial products for a long time, you will probably need to start with a bit stronger treatment.
