How bad is rainwater on hair?
Sep 22nd, 2006 at 6:25pm

I just washed my hair, went out and got caught in he rain. I then washed my hair again when i got back.

I am starting to wonder if it was worth washing my hair again. Is the rain really that bad?

I was told it eats at the hair and must be washed out instantly. Is this true?

Eats you hair??

Oh my!  Who ever told you that?  That would be true only if you are experiencing severe acid rain.  I seriously doubt you are in an area that you would need to be concerned about that!

I collect rain water and rinse my hair with it when we are camping.  If you have hard water and don't soften it, rain water will be softer than your home water.

I have never washed my hair just because I got caught in the rain.  In fact, I will let my hair down to let it all get wet!  Grin

You guys who can walk out in the rain freely are lucky. Sometimes the rain is rain here, sometimes it's... well, not anything I'D put in my hair.. I only live a few miles from a BUNCH of oil refineries, chemical companies, factories, etc..(one of the joys Huh of the mississippi river) and even with all their "pro environment " speeches, 'commitments' and what have you... they're still spewing tons of chemicals into the air, so sometimes when it rains, that all gets washed out of the air by the water... which means the rain is, if not acid rain, then, 'seriously funky chemical' rain, at least... some days though, if it's been raining for a while already, the air will be pretty much clear and I can go out and enjoy it. That's good, because I'm one of those odd kids who was still splashing in puddles the day I graduated.
