Leaving my hair down

Recently my hubby has complained that I do not wear my hair down enough. Now I do like to keep it up and protected and I do get nervous about things like people with cigarettes, car doors etc. My sister-in-law said putting my hair up makes me look old - I brushed that comment off! Angry

Her hair is an over dyed rats nest! Still hubby loves my hair and wants to see it down more. What should I do? Undecided

I too, do not wear my hair down very often in order to protect it. But I do leave it down when at home, so hubby can see it and "enjoy" it. This has satisfied hubby's need to see it down.

I would say make sure it wear it down at home when you can and only put it up to go outside. Unless it is a special occassion then have you hair down.

Or maybe you could release your hair when ever you enter a building where the wind is not at it and then simple put a scrunchie in when you leave the building depending on the time you stay.

i find that wearing my hair up the wrong way makes me look younger and wearing it up the right way makes me look like a lady and very posh indeed

I guess it's a man thing as I too had been faced with the same dilemma. Undecided

I always wear my hair up while sleeping and during the day (until recently), I wore it down. Lately I'd been experimenting with more attractive up do's as to please my husband and protect my hair.

I've found that looser messier up do's can be more attractive than when the hair is pulled taut with every hair in place.

When T first asked me why don't I keep my hair always down, I explained to him nicely, that if I want my hair to grow long (which is also something he'd like), I need to keep it protected for most of the time. I also explained, that because my hair is so light and fine, it catches into things and in general can be quite annoying. Since he has had short hair all his life, he hadn't even thought of that side of things before.
However, I keep my hair down every now and then when I'm at home, eg. watching tv. I also let T help in my haircare, eg. trim my hair. Sometimes I also let him choose between a couple of hairstyle/hairtoy options. This shows him that I appreciate his opinions and want him to like my hair, even though for the most of the time hair down is not an option.

Plus, we longhairs just look better with all our glory rolled out for the world to see. Unless he decides to drag you through a hurricane or the desert, you should be fine.

Apparently not... my dh hates mine down and makes sometimes almost cruel remarks when I do so. (I really don't think he realizes he's being mean, he just doesn't get it) He prefers my hair up, at least in a ponytail. I know better than to even ask what he thinks now.

honestly, i don't think you're at a length where you are obliged to wear it up so i can understand he's complaining (men really do prefer flowing hair i am afraid. mine doesn't see the point even in growing to a length where it becomes impossible to wear it down). my own length has become quite challenging, especially since most of the time weather is really windy around here. i do leave it down indoors at home though. i actually think it's beneficial for the scalp. these days i also prefer braids over buns (and my s/o definitely prefers braids). they don't pull at my scalp. (ps, i have a longhaired friend who keeps her hair up most of the time, always in the same style and she really does have this balding spot on the back of her head. updo's, especially badly balanced and always in the same spot, are not amazing either. and buns do piss my scalp off most of the time. i kind of got tired of redoing them ten times Sad

I take it down when I'm home and nap or sleep with it in loose low pigtail braids. I do put it up again after being home if I'm doing something-like eating, cleaning or crafting.
