Sorry that I haven't been posting much lately.  Work has me buried and my stupid laptop at home has decided that I only need to type one character - the "0" - over and over and over and over and over...... nothing but 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

pages and pages of 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Every now and then it decides to let me type something  - like right now.  But I've been trying to type on this stupid machine for the past 4 hours.  AARRRGGGHHHH!

ok, I feel better now.  Smiley

I think it's lucky that you can't type out what you really feel about the laptop!

It must be a Toshiba. I have one , the one I use to write my novels, that has eaten 3 keyboards. One of them typed "@WSX" over and over. Another, I typed an 'F" and it gave me a f but also a 'G'. 'R' gave 'R and 'T'..

After 3 keyboards, I now only have the bottom half of the screen after usin it at pinewood derby. It will get a decent burial.. W@#$%!!!!!!!

It is a Dell Inspiron laptop.  It has been used hard.  It is still giving me trouble, so most of my posting is being done from work.  I can still read the messages at night, but can't type anything.   Tongue

now Sir Rat, just HOW were you using it at pinewood derby?  (do you have a son in Cub scouts?)

It's been a long time since my son was in Cub Scouts. I was the Cubmaster. It was a lot of fun.

But..

I designed and built a Pinewood Derby track back in 1995 with an electronic finish line. I also wrote some programs that keeps tabs on race order and eliminations in 1992. I still rent out my track and services to a Cub Scout pack in the area. I'm down to just the one because it is about time I retire from scouts and derbies. It used to be several.

On your keyboard, try unplugging it from the main board and plug it in again. Also, you might remove the key cap from the annoying key and check for foreign substances. Maybe blow it out with compressed air.

Good for you for staying active in Cub Scouts as long as you did.  Pinewood Derby is always the highlight of the year.  It is fun to see what the kids have done to their cars (or in some cases, what their Dad's did to their cars  Angry )

As for my keyboard.  Since it is in the laptop we had to dissassemble the case, then we blew it out and checked the contacts.  They hubby lost a screw to put it back together.  Three days later I finally found the screw.  It seems to be working better - or at least I can type on it.  However it is soooooo slooooooow in loading pages.  It's been scanned for viruses and we've confirmed it is not our DSL.  I've got to run a check for a memory leak.  The poor laptop has been worked to death.  Tongue
