Black Soap
Jan 28th, 2007 at 5:08pm

Hello!  I was just wondering if anyone has ever used black soap for hair or skincare, and if not has anyone ever heard anything about it?  Thanks.

I'm not familiar with black soap.  What can you tell us about it?

It is an all natural soap that I believe originated in africa.  It is suppose to be really good for skincare-helping with such problems as acne and oily skin.  I also read it is good for your hair.  This website has alot of information about it-www.nasabb.com.  Alot of Nasabb's customers have good things to say about it, but I was just curious if anyone here had tried it.  I believe you can get samples.  Maybe I'll give it a try.  Right now I am trying  Chagrin Valley Soaps( thanks to all the good things I read about them on this board).  Tonight I just used their Olive oil soap on my hair and boy does it feel soft.  I also love how soft it makes my skin feel.  I love finding out about new products.  It is so much fun to experiment.  I also tried Chagrin's lotion bars, which I am loving on my lips as well as my skin.  The hemp mango in paticular is becoming my favorite.  I guess I kind of got off the original subject (sorry).  If I decide to try the black soap I will let you know what I think, and if anyone happens to visit the site or give it a try let me know your opinion.  Smiley

Sorry, I've never heard of the black soap.  If you try it, please post a review!!  I'm glad you're liking Chargin's soaps-they didn't work so good for me but it was fun to try out new products.  Ida sure has lots of yummy sounding combinations!

Speaking of Ida's soaps, there are wonderful, but I tried Prairielandherbs.  Awesome lather and the vinegar rinse is great!  www.prairielandherbs.com ; I used the Nettle shampoo bar sample and the Rosemary Lavender Vinegar rinse and was very pleased with both.

You're welcome! Smiley  They have a gift bag I think for 7 or 10 dollars and you get 2 oz. of the vinegar rinse and a sample shampoo bar and maybe something else, not sure.  When I used the nettle sample shampoo bar and the vinegar rinse I was surprised.  Given my hair to be very long,I had less hair loss and far less tangles.  Made a believer out of me from when I read the info. on their site.  I had used an all natural conditioner and to tell ya the truth, they can keep it!  I'd do a vinegar rinse everytime instead of the conditioner!

Hi Curlgirl64.  I just wanted to let you know that I ordered the rosemary lavendar vinegar rinse, and I used it tonight.  I have to say I really liked it.  It surprises me how soft the vinegar makes my hair.  It also makes it feel thicker, and it is so much easier to comb.  I also recieved samples of the nettle and ginger beer shampoo.  I have not tried them yet, but I will let you know when I do.  Thanks again for telling me about this product!Smiley

Hi Zachsmom!  Sorry it took awhile to see this post!  Glad you like the rinse.  I've been making my own since the 2oz. went rather quickly for me.  I boil 2 cups of water, turn the gas to simmer, add 2 Tblsp. of rosemary(herb) and 2 Tblsp. of vinegar.  Let it simmer covered for 15 minutes, turn gass off and let it steep for 30 minutes.  If I don't use it that day,I put it in a mason jar and put it in the fridge.  I'll add e/o's next time.  If you try it that day,let it cool down before you use it!!
