Hula Show
May 5th, 2007 at 11:25pm

I know I've mentioned before that I'm a Hawaiian and Tahitian dancer. I had a show this evening which was a little odd.

When I walked into the backyard, I instantly recognized someone...

my boyfriend's ex-girlfriend!

Fortunately it wasn't very awkward. She was a friend of my brothers' in
high school, and was a highland dancer. She danced the Highland Fling with
me at my dad's 50th birthday party.

After the show I went up and said hello. She was very surprised that the
dancer was me, and gave me a hug.

A few minutes later, after I had already changed out of my costume, one of
the guests, a woman about 40-50, approached me. The conversation went
something like this:

"Hi, you were great!"
"Thanks!"
"You know, I was thinking while you were dancing, that you should wear
something like a bikini. So that when you spin around, you show some
thigh."
"Um..."
"But then you took the grass skirt off, and I saw that you had the shorter
skirt for Tahitian dancing - which I liked better anyway."
"Thank you!"
"Hey, you know. I only live like two houses down, and I have a hula hoop.
Can I bring it over? I bet you'd be really good at that. I'll be really
quick."
"Um... sure."
"Great! I'll be right back."

So I did a few seconds of hula hoop. I was very good.
