hey fellow hair groupies-i'm looking into combs and i've gathered from general talk on here that wooden ones are better. i'm looking for a moderately priced comb that will be non-tearing for my hair. please advise  Smiley

The one I use and have had for years is from the Body Shop.  I think it was $8 or $10.  They hold up so good I haven't had to buy one for a long time, I don't know if they're still available.

Good Luck!

Another vote for Body Shop combs. I also have one and it's been great.

However, I have heard some people saying that the quality of Body Shop combs may not be consistent- so if you end up looking for one, be sure to check that your comb is smooth all over and looks a quality product.

I have heard the Body Shop has some nice ones.  I bought mine (through advice from people here) from Ric the Combmaker.  I think the average price is about $27 US from there.  He asks you to tell you about your hair type so he can help you pick the right wood (and gives you the option from what he figures it best for your hair) and then he engraves your name on it too, plus he sends you oil for oiling it (which must be done at least once a month).  I can't remember which continent you are on...but if you google him you will find what you need to know and then you can decide what is best for you...Body Shop or not!!!

I have a wood comb from Ric (www.combmaker.com) ; The comb is very well made, the teeth are soo smooth.  Wood combs are not supposed to get wet though.  All of Ric's combs come with a little bottle of beeswax and some oil that you use to condition the comb once a month.  So there is some upkeep.

But his combs are well worth the price, IMHO.  And he has different price ranges depending on what wood you use.  He's also very friendly.  And  you can even have your comb engraved with your name or initials or what have you.

Anyway...

(Happy)/
