Left it in Gods lap
Jul 21st, 2007 at 6:34pm

Well,  yessterday I was sooo weighted down and depressed.  It was as if all faith and hope were lost.  My financial situation was really getting to me.  Last nite I made a vow b4 God and left the situation in His very capable hands. I basically dumped it in His lap.  I said here Lord, will You take this and deal with it, I cant anymore. I know He has a plan and it cannot fail.  Then I began reading in Psalms, starting 100.  It is Psalm of Praise, and as I began to praise Him. the weight just seemed to lift.  The more I rejoiced and worshipped the better I felt.  This morning I woke up and started rejoicing all over again and I havent stopped yet.   WOW!!!  I know there is power in prayer but there is also power in praise.  O man do I feel good   Grin Grin Grin.

Wow and double WOW.

That's the very purpose of faith, isn't it? To give us a sense of security and hope where there otherwise wouldn't be.
Glad that the Good Word made that clearer to you. Just remember that God helps those who help themselves.

Debr,
It is wonderful when God meets us in prayer and praise, with power!  And it is wonderful that 3000 years later we can find God's truth in the God-inspired words of David and the other psalmists.
btw, no where in the Bible does it say that God helps those who help themselves.  It says we are unable to help ourselves.  God helps those who are unable to help themselves and look to Him for help.

Thanks PreciousLocks,  I know that the Bible doesnt say that "God helps those who help themselves."  I know there are things that God does do for us as long as we love Him only, serve Him only, have faith in Him only.  So much more.  Everything is still in Gods lap but He has told us not to fret.  Its hard, but I have put my trust in Him.  Soo, here we go!!!

Indeed, you won't find it in the Bible. You will, however, find it in Poor Richard's Almanac of 1736.  Wink  It's a simple reminder for people not to just give up and expect God to take care of everything. He will help you when you are helpless, but it's a mistake to become used to saying, "I can't." There's nothing wrong with seeking out divine assistance, so long as you don't take advantage of it.
In a financial situation, for example, God isn't going to miraculously clear you of all debts. He'll be there to help you through the problem, just make sure that you're taking the responsible steps to resolve it.

Deep breaths and clear thinking, Debr. You'll come out of it just fine.
