Hot Oil Treatment
Aug 1st, 2007 at 10:46am

How often should I do a hot oil treatment on my hair? I did one this morning.  I used VO5, moisturizing. Is this a good brand?

Hi Jess,  I used those when my hair was shorter.  I kept them in my carryon and used one tube after landing.  Airhair isnt pretty.  Anyway, what I do now is oiling with olive oil b4 going to bed (leaving it in all nite).  Then shampooing the next morning.  Of course, my hair is much longer now.  But doing that has helped tremendously.  As to how often?  Pretty much depends on you and your hair.  My simple advice would be to try either jojoba oil (close to natural sebum) or olive oil.  I like the olive cuz my hair is very thick and thigh length again.

well.. my hair is above my shoulder and really thin.

Olive oil??  Just regular olive oil you can get from the grocery store?  Do you add anything to it?

I use exrta virgin olive oil (EVVO) myself.  I leave it in over night then shampoo the next day. Smiley

Yep EVOO is what I use too.  I put it on from the bottom of my ears down the length.  Wash out the next morning and nice soft hair  Grin.  Good luck!!

I do the same thing - overnight heavy EVOO treatments - when I know that I'll be washing all of my hair the next morning.

Don't forget to use a sleep cap. Otherwise the oil will get all over your pillowcase and your skin.  Tongue  Oh yes, and I use just regular ol' Star brand EVOO from the grocery store.
