More stress
Dec 12th, 2007 at 7:45pm

Good afternoon all,  as most of you know I have been having a hard time finding a job.  It has been one temp position after another.  During this time I have not been paying the rent.  Well, this afternoon my pastor suggested I move in with my mom.  I rent from the church.  He says we (the church) have all been praying that I would find a permanent position but it hasnt happpened yet.  He also says I need to try harder, that maybe I am expecting God to do too much.  He doesnt want me to take this conversation in the wrong way, but how else do I take it.  He says the church is paying taxes on the land, and if I am not paying rent it makes it harder to pay the taxes.  The rent money also helps to support the school.  I am registered with differant temporary agencies here and also registered at the state employment division.  I keep checking back but nothing is happening. He thinks maybe I should go the the employment office every day.  I have been looking at only dayshift positions, but now maybe I have to consider weekends too.  He feels as though I have brought a lot of this on myself. I dont want to live with my mom, I am 55 years old.  If I were younger, maybe.  I haven't wanted to move to another area or another state but maybe I have to consider that too.  It takes money to make those kinda decisions.  So now what?  I am not sure if I should continue to make prayer request for my finances.  Maybe people are getting tired of my requests (same ol' same ol') ya know  Roll Eyes.

Thanks for listening

((hugs))  Oh Debr, I feel for you.  Moving in with your mother must feel like a backwards move.  But living in a place without being able to pay the rent is also difficult for the church to manage for an extended period of time.

It sounds like your pastor is in the tough position of having to set the limit to the church's generosity and try to encourage you to consider more options.  Sometimes we have to take the less desirable jobs to get some income basis until the more desirable job finally comes along.

I hope you find the path to your financial independence soon.

Thanks BB, my Pastor appoligized to me the next day.  He has even been helping me find a job.  The local pastors in this area received a letter from what is called "The consortium".  They help to place people into jobs. This consortium even has what is called "hidden jobs".  Those are jobs not posted by the employment division or not advertised publicly anywhere.  Sort of an ememergency type thing.  My pastor and I went to the orenintation meeting last week. Most of the applicants in this 1st meeting were people of my age group.  There were about 10 of us. I have been filling out some forms for testing and job placement assistance.  My next appt is the day after Christmas.  So, I am hoping to be in a job by the 1st of the year.
