what kind of aloe - also need good detangler

Shocked  New here, but not so new to natural hair care.  I had a very traumatic 'shed' about a year ago and now I have all the new growth poking out everywhere!!!  I saw the suggestion about using aloe as a gel to hold these pesky things down; however, when I went to the health food store, the only 100% pure aloe was actually aloe vera juice.  All of the aloe vera gels had chemicals that I cannot pronounce.  So do you actually use real aloe leaves?  If so, how do you separate the reddish/brown resin from the actual gel?

Also looking for a good detangler for my little naturebaby who is four, has babyfine hair and turns into a nappy head at nappy time!  Aubrey organics has one that is almost all natural, but it does contain PABA which I've read elsewhere is suspect in regards to it's safety.  Anyone know of any other truly natural detanglers?  Jojoba oil helps but not unless it's enough to turn her into a greasy naturebaby!

Natural Aloe gel or juice should be clear and ready to apply to your hair.  Maybe try a different store for more product options.  I do not use aloe directly from a plant.

You could also try avocado oil, I find it lighter than jojoba.

Good luck!

You might try George's Aloe Vera Gel.   It is 100% natural.

I use Fruit of the Earth aloe vera gel.  It does contain other ingredients, but they are only for stabilization and shelf life.  It has no coloring or scent added and works great at taming those pesky fly-aways.

I also use Fruit of The Earth aloe and have had great success with it.  I have a lot of growing-in hair, too, about 3 to 4 inches long and growing out bangs (chin length) so it really does help.

As for the tangling, I find Biolage Conditioning Balm a great help and am considering a clear henna to kind of coat the hair in the hopes that it may smooth the cuticle and thus produce less tangling.  I'm still doing research on the clear henna though.  Anyone else have any info on this?

I also use Fruit Of The Earth aloe gel. You can find it at just about any chain store. It's clear, not green.

Wouldn't be able to recommend a natural detangler, though, since I'm an avid cone user and oils have never worked for me.

Look into Aubrey Organics B5 Gel.  I'm like you, I don't like putting anything on my skin or in my hair that I can not pronounce.   Wink  I am satisfied with the AO B5 Gel.
