Hello!

Hi

Im from the UK and am soo glad i stumbled across this wonderful site for long hair.  Its nice to know there are people out there who apprecieate long hair and not constantly saying when are you going to get it cut? (they are obviously jelous)  I used to have lovely long dead straight hair to my hips, until summer last year when i managed to get a giant of a knot  Cry.  It didn't help that i was experiencing diffuse hairloss from stress and poor diet, then i went swimming with my hair in a bun.....when i came to undo it, it wouldn't come undone  Cry, i managed to save most of my hair length but the knot was still the size of a golf ball and went with desparation to the hairdressers where they put a concoction of olive oil, fabric softener and detangler on to try and remove it and spent the good part of 2 days brushing it out  Undecided.  I have still hair down to the middle of my back  Cheesy, but it is not the glorous length it once was.  Not to mention the absolute frizz my hair becomes after washing from all the different bits of layers and split ends that were created from the knot.  The EVOO tip that this site has suggested has really helped tame the frizz  Cheesy. Thanks!  My hair is slowly returning to its former glory yay! Its getting less frizzy as the layers grow and 15cms to go til back to original length  Smiley !

Welcome to Longlocks!

I'm so sorry you lost significant length to a knot.  I think that is one of my biggest fears with my hair, that I will end up with a rat's nest at the nape of my neck and will have to cut it all off.

Hang in there - you will get your length back!

Welcome aboard, Fairylonghair.  Smiley

Sorry to hear about your dreadful knot experience and the damage that resulted. Egad!
Before you start going for marathon lengths again, I would suggest that you have every inch of damage cut off first. If damage is left unchecked, it will travel up the hair shaft and thwart all of your growing efforts. Also, be sure to get regular trims. Fresh ends = less tangles & less frizz.

Anyway, best of luck recovering your hair to its natural glory!
