Found a new hair clip I Love
Jun 23rd, 2008 at 10:25am

So, my usual routine for a day is to put my hair up directly after getting out of bed.  I don't even brush it because I have so many little things to do in the morning that I don't have time (it takes about 20 minutes) so I just throw it in a bun, and then I can brush it later (but always before bed).  I used to use just one of those no-slip-grip hair clip, you know, the claw kind, to hold my bun up.  Well it always dug into my head and gave me headaches so I eventually switched to sticks and infinity (figure 8) buns instead for when I needed to just get my hair up.

Well recently I have been working out every day and the stick just won't stay in my hair.  My hair is pretty heavy and a stick holds it brilliantly for normal tasks, but for working out it just isn't strong enough and I have switched to the hurty clip for working out.

So anyway to get to the point, I was shopping for groceries over the weekend and I wanted to look at the hair stuff just because I hadn't in so long and I saw these ...

So I said what the heck, I will try it.

Well I love it!  Instead of having the hinge part on the back of the clip, it is flat plastic, and the hinges are sort of hidden on the inside, and because its flat you can lay your head back if the want to and it wont dig into your head, also the teeth that grip the hair are flat, so they don't stick into the head either!  It's a lot more comfortable and non-damaging than regular claw clips, for those of us who can't completely break the clip-habit.

If you wanted to try wearing one, here is how I wear mine:

Twist your hair as if you were doing a regular pinned up bun (you know, ponytail, twist, twist, twist, shape bun and pin)  but instead of going all the way into "bun" position, I stop about 3/4 of the way through, so Ive got a partial bun and I am still holding on to the end of my hair, pointed upwards, at the top of the bun.  At this point I clip the lose hair to my head right above the bun.  Sometimes the bun will fall into a twisted coil after a lot of movement, but thats ok too, it still stays up.  Then you just let your ends fountain every which way.  My boyfriend loves that hairstyle, and you can leave more or less down if you like.  It's pretty and casual, and it's one of those hairstyles you can dress up or down to your preference!

Ok that's it!

Thanks for that info!!  I have a super big claw clip(dealth claw as one of our members says!) It hurts my head, too!!  I'd like to try tthis type to see if it work for me when I'm on my Pilates Performer laying down.
Do they have a website?  I don't think I've seen this brand here for sale at the stores?
Never mind!!  I put in www.linziclip.com and the website came up!  Nice and cute!  Are the "teeth" seemless?  They appear to be in the photos.

Yes they are seamless, and so far they haven't gotten stuck in my hair once, not even a little!  The hinge part is encased in plastic so it would tough to get it caught in your hair, also the inside is sort of "hollowed" out to allow for lots of hair to go through it, so I bet it would work for thick hair too.

I also do pilates!  And it's perfect for laying down.  I usually don't rave about cheap plastic hair things, but its just so much better than the regular claw clips!  I got mine at Walmart food store, other grocery stores probably sell them too, and it was really cheap! like 3 bucks.

Thanks!  I'll check out Rite-Aid the next time I go by there.  Too bad you can't order them on line:)
I've had my Pilates Machine for about 8 years.  Been practicing since that time or alittle before.  How long have you been practicing?

Found the new hair clip at Rite-Aid  today.  So far so good!  I like them.  Got the maxi and that's working ok for me just taking part of my hair and pulling it back.

I have only been at it for about 3 weeks now, but I like it!  I don't use a machine though, my stuff is all simple, using a fit ball and tension straps and weights and what not.

If/when you expand your liking of the teachings you might want to check out the Stott Pilates technique.  She is very anatomical, which is something I like and understand.  I want to know what body part is affected, how it moves and what action it moves in.  I love anatomy so Stott is right up my alley!!!
The Swiss Ball or Balance Ball is wonderful by itself or added with straps, dynabands,or weights.  I actually have a Balance Ball chair from Gaim that I use when I'm on the computer!!

I have a disc that I put on my chair at work.  I get about the same effect as sitting on a balance ball. It can also be used on the floor for balance work.  Here is a picture of it.

so, does the linziclip really work?  i have tried claw clips and they just do not hold my hair for even a few seconds. as soon as i put the claw in, it droops and drops out !!!!  is it worth me spending the money on a linziclip?

Smart of them to place the metal on the inside and encage it.  Looks a bit like what the lady doctor was wearing to pull half of her hair up with.  She has dark, masses of perfect cork screw curls and they look natural and well cared for and waist long.  It was a really enviable sight.

I didn't get a close look at what she was wearing in her hair though because she was looking down my throat.  But if that's what she was wearing, then there's hope of me finding it here in Denmark.

For me, it works very well.  I have some days where my hair will not cooporate and I have to re-clip my hair a few times, but mostly I can just put it in my hair and it will stay.  I have aso used no-slip clips before, but they are the conventional type of clip.  The linziclip never gets tangled in my hair, and because the teeth are flat against my head, it never ever hurts, even if I wear it all day.  I am wearing one now!  And it has become a staple of my weekly hair-do's.  One thing I will say is that the teeth break easily.  I dropped one of mine on a tile floor and one of the teeth broke off, but it still works perfectly fine -1 tooth.  I just wish I could find one that was all black!
