My Burning Blues!
Nov 7th, 2008 at 8:47am

Experimenting with my brand-spanking-new Burning Blues and matching Faerie Strand I made. Smiley  I went out to dinner with my hair like this and got a LOT of compliments!

The blue color really stands out against your hair!  Could you explain what a Faerie Strand is?

Just a strand of crystal and seed beads that I made to match the hairsticks.  I'm going to make at least one for every hairstick I get from Susan (which means I REALLY need to order some new beads!)  The one in the picture is made to hang straight down, but can be worn from any position on the head, really.  Once it's braided in, it's not going anywhere.  I like wearing them next to my face, like in the picture, or hanging down next to a braid just behind my ear.  It's fastened in by a small loop on the end.  I've got plans to make one with loops on both ends so it will lay alongside my hair when it's pulled back, plus multi-strand designs.

Cool, and thanks for the explanation.  Do you pin them into your hair?  I don't understand how you braid it in.

Nope; when I first seperate the hair sections before I braid, I soak one section down with a spray bottle and just slide the loop up to the base of the section, then braid as normal.  The loop gets locked in place by the braid, and the Faerie Strand stays put with no pins.
