Although I have very very very! curly hair I have been straightening it almost everyday for the past few years. I've noticed during this time that my hair seems to become thinner and I've lost a lot of volume in my hair (when i first started straightening my hair it was nice and full but now its just limpy). Is this because of the constant straightening and if so is there something I can do to reverse this?

Hey there and welcome! Cheesy

The first thing I'm going to tell you is: NO MORE STRAIGHTENING! And yes, I am fairly sure that your hair is thinning because of the constant damage heat application that is burning your hair. As for how to reverse this, I'm not really sure of anything to do other than take really good care of it and keep it healthy. I'm sure the other ladies here have some other ideas. It doesn't matter if you use heat or chemicals, both cause damage/breakage. You will need to do some deep conditioning to minimize additional breakage, but most likely you will have to cut/trim more hair before you can return to normal, healthy hair.

Unfortunately, I can only say the same thing- if you want full, gorgeous curly hair, kill that thing.
They get hot enough to boil the water in your hair to get it straight, completely drying it out.

I have dry, curly hair that I work hard to keep shiny, smooth and frizz-free. But if I let my aunt anywhere near my hair with a straightening iron, when I let it curl again I'm always back where I started, frizzier and drier than ever.

What's probably happened to you is that your hair has been breaking off from being very dry, so your hair is thinning.
