Pixie Cut to Rapunzel- Will I make it?
Jan 9th, 2010 at 10:52pm

Hello, everyone!  You all can call me Katherina, and I'm new here. Smiley

About this time last year, I was forced to cut off nearly all of my hair, thanks to a very bad over-the-sink dye job.

Now it's a pixie cut.  A very comfy, carefree pixie cut, I must say, yet I miss my regal braids and French twists. Sad

I'd like to grow my now dye-free, medium blonde hair to perhaps a few inches past my shoulders.  Any tips for a Rapunzel-in-training?  How can I keep myself from chopping it all off in frustration?  How can I gracefully grow out my bangs, without looking like a punk rocker?

I need help from as many hair experts as I can find... and I believe that I've come to the right place. Smiley

I would suggest accessorizing - headbands, clips, anything that will take away from focusing on the hair itself. You can also experiment with conditioning treatments, oils and anything to help with health.

I have no advice about bangs except for pinning them back until they get to a manageable length.

Let us know how it turns out.

Every time I've grown out my bangs, I use a variety of different things. Swept back with a cute barrette, or side swept. Headbands were my staple when I was younger. Now a days, I adore micro claw clips. I just twist back sections and arrange the claw clips like a mini coronet. It's pretty smooth sailing once you can tuck the growing out bangs behind your ears. Good luck!

I did the EXACT same thing you did: grew my hair out from a pixie. It's now almost to my shoulders. Basically, you just have to come to terms with the fact that it's going to look weird for a while. I prolonged the process by cutting it every few weeks (literally, like every 2 weeks) into a new style, trying to get it to look good as it grew out. It won't. It's going to look like you are growing out a pixie. BUT keep going! I very recently almost cut all mine off again, but I wasn't allowed to because of a play I am in. Turned out to be a good thing, because the spell passed and I don't want it gone anymore!

Hang in there! Yes, use lots of headbands and clips, but be careful of clips with metal on them. They could break off your hair and you could have tons of frizzies as you grow out.
