I know some people use mineral oil on their hair, but jojoba is by far the most recommended.  Olive, almond and coconut are also commonly used oils.  You might find that mineral oil may have a drying effect on your hair rather than a moisturizing one.  Different oils will affect different hair in different manners, so you really should experiment and see what works for you.  I rarely oil my own hair, it's oily enough on its own.  I might change my mind when it's 46" instead of 36" but at this point, I don't see it happening :)
