Coffee rinse on blonde ends?
Oct 2nd, 2004 at 3:37am

I haven't chemically bleached or dyed my hair for a year and a half, and I've kept my hair's sun exposure to a minimum for just over a year.  The roots that have now grown to my neck are a dark blonde/light brown on top and a dark brown on the bottom.  I think I kinda like the darker color and would like my ends to be darker also.  What do you all think a coffee rinse would do applied to my blonde ends?  Should I apply the rinse to all my hair or just the ends?

I've thought about a brown henna also, but am worried about that the color will never fade.  I used a very temporary (supposed to wash completely out after 6 washes) red dye on my hair several years ago, and my hair never released the color.

My ends, damaged an porous as they are, also do not release color or scents easily.  I tried a coffee rinse and while it didn't seem to to much for my color, my hair stunk of old coffee for 2 days.  Angry  I've been trying an herbal rinse (1 tsp each catnip, rosemary, and sage, steep in a mug of boiling water for an hour or so.  After I've CWC and done my final cold rinse, I dip the length in the rinse a couple of times and pour the rest over my scalp and leave it in.  You can use a splash of ACV if you like as well)  It makes my hair soft and fragrant, and it seems to be darkening my greys a bit.  I've only been using it for a week or so, so it may get even better  Wink

I added coffee to one of my deep conditioning treatments and I smelled like a latte for a week.  It drove me nuts since I really don't like coffee.  I haven't tried a coffee rinse since that experience.   Undecided

I think that eventually it will make hair darker.  I've just gone back to coffee rinses and it since I've only done a couple there is very little difference.  Its more like my hair color is richer than before.
