Hi,

I would like your views on whether layers are good for general health and growth of the hair?

Would like to hear ur responses.

Thanks

Layering does not do anything for the health of the hair.  It effects the styling of your hair and how thick it appears.

Most people do not like layers in their hair after it reaches about mid-back, but it is a personal choice.

I know this is old and I agree that layers are an individual choice.  However, I want to draw attention to one of the reasons many women have layers - it can conceal damage for some women.  The "danger" in this is that you may go longer between trims than you would otherwise.

Hair growth rate is determined by genetics - layering doesn't affect it. Health wise, it can be a bad thing because it means cutting the ends at an angle, which exposes more of the hair's cortex (the inside part) which makes the ends more susceptible do dryness and splits. Think of a carrot when you slice it at an angle...same thing.
