My favorite style

Straight long hair is my favorite style but I don't really know why Cool

Waves or slight curls are ok but long straight hair will always get my head turning, especially if it is fairly thick Wink

It is also a plus if the hair is clean and has a pretty good shine to it too Cool

If I remember right, straight hair was most popular during the hippie years in the late 60's and earlier 70's?

NATURAL was the key to hair in the 60's and 70's.  Yes, long and straight was popular, but so was the afro!   Grin

You've got that right bikerbraid!  My favorite style is superlong hair both straight and wavy but my most favorite is some feathered bangs going pushed back off of your face, and the rest of the hair hanging down long with some loose curls or waves.  That's been my favorite style all of my life, and I've been wearing it all of my life too.

I wish I was one of those who'd been a hairstyle loyalist Roll Eyes I think it would actually have been realistic to assume that I could've had healthy, long, ankle length hair by now.  There's a site that has a photo gallery with Japanese women with knee and ankle length hair.

My hair's very straight and as late as the middle of this week, I wasn't sure it would work with my plans for a 1930s-40s and early 50s (if the styles are mature) vintage and retro wardrobe make-over would work with my plans to grow my straight hair out.  I nearly convinced myself that the transformation wouldn't be complete with a classic middy cut that can be set in curls and waves.

Then I thought that, that simply couldn't have been the reality for a mature, homemaker in a rural town like me in by gone times and thankfully my maternal grandmother, MIL, and google image searches have proved me right.  Even after the 1920s and well until after the post war years, you'd see women in their mid 20s and older with long hair in buns, twists and earbuns in rural areas.  I've seen lots of photos with earbuns and hairbands from the 1920s for special occasions.

So now my plan is to grow my hair out and study the bunned and twisted styles on this site and forum closely!
