What to do?
Apr 4th, 2008 at 1:50pm

My hair is BSL when wet (I'm a curly girl) and I usually have to do this elaborate hair flip thing to keep it out from under the strap of my purse. Also, in September it was past BSL and I got it caught in my car door if I wasn't careful, sometimes my seatbelt. This was the kicker, I even got it caught on a low hanging tree as I walked by, (stopped me dead in my tracks) that's when I got it cut the first time. So what do you ladies do with all your hair?

I wear mine 1/2 up most often.  I'm starting to wear a single braid more often as I'm getting the hang of braiding over my shoulder.  Currently the braid is my favorite for when I'm working out.  I also wear low twin braids, usually with a bandana when I've oiled my hair heavily and have to go out before washing it.

Usually, I keep my hair braided. And sometimes in an updo for dates/special occasions/whatever.

But when my hair is down, I'll usually sweep away whatever strands could get stuck under my purse straps...or I'll just settle with the notion that my hair is going to get under there anyway and just let it be.

In the car, I pull the length of my hair over my right shoulder so the seatbelt isn't resting on it...and so it doesn't get caught in things.  Tongue

With me I usually have my hands full so I'll throw my purse over my shoulder and have my gym bag, coffee, water, and ipod in my hands. Then I start walking and realize my hair is stuck!lol I might try investing in a handbag so I don't have that issue.

I usually have my hair up in a bun with Amish pins or LL hairsticks.  On occasion when it's down I wear a single braid.  I've learned to always always wear my hair in a bun when I'm in a wheelchair because it will never fail,my mother, sister or fiance will by accidnt pull on my hair! Angry Sad so it's up in a bun out of harm's way!!!

Ah, I have indeed been in these situations as well, particularly with the hair under the purse strap thing, once or twice or ten times in the car door, but never in a tree!  lol  I'm just a bit past BSL with basically straight, but slightly wavy hair, and unfortunately I rarely let my hair down anymore, just for these reasons.  Usually a simple bun or hairsticks does the trick, but when I have time I like to get more creative with pulling my hair up.  When I do leave it down I'm very careful to sweep my hair to the right as my purse strap goes over my left shoulder, which doesn't always do the trick anyway.  And getting in a car, especially on a windy day, I pony tail up my length just using my hand until I'm in and the door's safely closed....when my hands are free that is.  I also must be careful when I'm wearing my hairsticks and getting in the car, never fails, they always get hit on the way down, sometimes knocking them out and ruining the 'do, other times just pulling my hair and hurting like the dickens!

Yeah, the tree thing was funny! I told my coworkers when I got to work and they cracked up. I said, "Ok, I'm getting caught in trees now...I gotta cut it."  Woth my hair being curly is can get kind big, which I guess explains it. My problem is I love the way it feels blowin in the wind, or the looks I get when I play with it, so I never wear it up. But depending on how good I get with those hair stick, I might start. I do have a claw clip that I put it up in a twist thing with today when I had lunch. God knows how it looked, I took it down once I finished.
