Gray hair care

My mom has many grays, including a streak that sort of blends back in with her browns.  She has medium brown hair, reddish mouse, and she dyes it a slightly redder shade.  It looks good, but she wants to grow her hair out and has lots of layers she hates, and she hates the grays, especially because of their coarser texture.  She's married to Aussie shampoos because they're cruelty-free and reasonably inexpensive, but I think she could do better maybe changing her routine to go with the changing texture of her hair.  I tell her to condition, and she gets the Aussie one but hardly ever uses it, says it makes her scalp itch.  She's a very sensitive person.  I wish I could send her here, but she's stubborn about using the computer.

My question, I guess, is did you change your routine when the grays took over, and how?  If they'd behave, maybe she'd stop dying, and then she could grow her hair longer, and be happier with it.

I don't have any greys, so I'm no help there.  I also have a sensitive scalp and I have good results with DevaCurl One Condition.  Its moisturizing enough for curly hair, but light enough not to weight down my waves.  It would be interesting to see how it would work on coarse hair texture.

When your mom conditions w/the aussie stuff, does she put it on her scalp?  Perhaps you could tell her to put it on the length only and see how that works for her.

Good Luck!

She doesn't put it on her scalp anymore, just the ends.  She said that was what was making her itchy.  I'll try to get her to do an oil treatment, though I don't know.  She might complain about how long it takes to rinse out.  Roll Eyes
