Hair - Wash, cond. leave-in.  I think I remembered to comb my hair.

Boys - Washed, dried and packed their few summer clothes until 1:30am last night.  Got up at 7am and sent them up to their grandparents/my in-laws this morning.  They'll be there until Thursday evening if all goes well.  Then hub's supposed to pick them up and then we're seeing in-laws at some museum on Saturday.  The  youngest one looks forward to having his parents to himself.  It's his last week in kindergarten.

I've been trying to pull my act together on my fitness and diet.  I'm not on anything temporary I'm just trying to bring back the diet habits and fitness level I had until a major depression or something hit at the end of summer 08.  I need to take responsibility and take control over the few things I can control.  I imagine like most people, I have plenty of responsibilities over things I have none to little control over. Roll Eyes

I pruned some rose bushes that were growing those long wild shoots that don't grow any rose bulbs.

Looked at photos from my brother's trip to China while he's there and uploading them to his travel homepage.  He's 19.  He went there last year too but for several months and without telling anyone.  I was mad at him at first but I understand why he had to do it that way.  No one has much confidence in his abilities to do anything and we'd surely have tried to stop him if we'd known.  He's more capable than we thought and I'm proud of him.  He's really grown.

Hair - CVR, wash, cond. leave-in.  Feels nice but looks stupid now that the side layers I'm growing out are in an odd stage.  Don't feel like wearing a ponytail today but it's really all I can do these days so I don't have volume at the sides of my round face.

Survivor - I survived an hour with five disabled boys in our house and garden.  It looks like we had 25 kids here.  It was loud, there were loads of conflicts and confusion.  All to be expected but it's different when it finally happens from when you just mentally try to prepare yourself and your kid for something like this.  All in all, everything went well. Grin  Friday is his last day in kindergarten so we won't need a repeat of this. Smiley

Whenever we have kids over I always tidy up first so that they can see that we have a certain standard here and will help to pick up before they leave.  My mom did it, it worked, so I do it too and it works.

I had depression really bad about 10 yrs ago and took antidepressants (Paxil, Effexor, and one other that I can't think of) for about 2 yrs.  Stopped taking them because they suppressed the highs as well as the lows and played hell with my sex life.  Now I take St. John's Wort, Omega 3, and Black Cohosh and feel just fine.  I still cry easily, but put it down to my Irish genes.  Depression does come from my mother's family, both she and her mother suffered with it. Since I started the herbs, I have no black moods or thoughts of ending it all, which I did have.

You might try these and see if they help.  Herbs are much less expensive than drugs, and easier to get, too.  If you try them, give it a month and be sure that all of the drugs are out of your system before you start.

I think I've had several periods of depression in my life.  Worst was between 94-97 but I've never asked for help.  I think keeping active, changing my diet and including more herbs/vegetables/fruits and taking my omega3 has helped so many things.  Oh, and drinking green tea.  Just focusing on sitting and sipping quietly it almost brings me in to a meditative state.  Thanks for the advice Melusine.

I have some very unpredictable mood swings.  Always have had.  When I started precocious puberty everyone probably thought it would pass once I got past my puberty but that's not happened and sometimes I'm so embarrassed at my own reactions.

Hair - I've changed my routine a bit.  I'm not sure I've found an affordable UV protection product that really works on my hair but I'm trying a combing cream that claims to do that.  So did this shampoo/conditioner series, so did the mousse I just stopped using so I'm not too optimistic.  I like the way it makes my hair feel and look though.  I still use my leave-in conditioner as well.  I've begun to take dusting more seriously too.  Had my bangs trimmed 8 days ago.

Back - Just got back from four days of pampering at my mom's.  Love her garden this summer.  Will upload photos when I get time.  Because some stupid carnival is coming to town the regular art display in the fish factory was closed when we were there. Sad  The displays change each year but at least I found an art fair in town.  Couldn't afford any of the art though.  They were all locals too.  Walked along the beach, did some shopping, ate down at the harbor and did a lot of just lounging around in mom's garden, her patio or in her small court.

Mom gave me some clothes, a lot in fact.  She prefers dark colors like me so now I can feel comfortable in my summer clothes as well and some of it can be worn year round.  Her style is very different from mine but I can style the clothes she gave me to suit my taste or attempt at a more functional, comfy, casual style.  Mom's style is very boheme and casual, I've always been more formal, conservative and at times (too often) OTT. Embarrassed  So a nice balance has been struck. Smiley  But we both like iron free clothes, dark colors and lots of black basics.  Mom's good at picking clothes in unusual cuts, unusual fabrics or some quirky details.  Often times I'm certain something isn't my taste and won't look right on me but mom's able to see how something will suit me even if I can't.

However, I will not allow my retro style to get lost as much as mom would love that because she just sees it as boring and dowdy.  She's very afraid of her or me looking old.  I just like to mix things to suit my mood and whim so I prefer very varied styles that are easily mixed.  At least mom and I agree on my hair.

Hub's allowed to hang temporary wire antennas all over mom's property when we're there.  He's a HAM.  The boys usually get new Lego and that happened this time too.  They also played in a small inflatable pool.  It was too hot for my comfort but mom loves it that way.

Thanks curlgirl.

Hair - It was suffering.  I've bought a new deep conditioner I've never tried and I'm using that combing cream or whatever you'd call it in English.  All Matas own brand.  Cheap and seems to be working.

Weather - We enjoyed two cooler days but now it's miserable again.

Shopping - The realization that the pastel theme is continuing in to Fall and Winter but in more ruddy/dusty shades than the clear ones we've seen this Spring/Summer is a bit frustrating to me so I've decided to take it out on hub's work laptop and order some black chemises, a black tank top and a black knit bolero.  I won't be receiving it until Mid October.  Last winter mom made sure I'll never be without black leggings again.  I need to stock up on black basics because everything else is berry or wine red, grey or purple but all the reds, greys and purples are different shades of the same colors and don't easily mix.

I was really hoping for deep, clear, jewel tones. Sad

Hopefully I'll be able to post photos from last week and this week some time next week.

Home - We're back after a week at a rented holiday home in Hou which is in the NE part of Jylland/Jutland.  We live in the SE part of Jylland.  It was just a two hours drive away.  We love to rent newer holiday homes because of the convenience and still good condition of the homes.  I'll upload photos as I promised to do but it'll probably be later than planned because I'm still feeling worn out and I've got piles of laundry to work my way through when I get my act together on that.  At least I learnt my lesson about unpacking and I did that and the first load of laundry as soon as we got home yesterday.

Hair - I've got some fried -and split ends and I'm dusting nearly daily because I can't wait 'til I can get to the hairdresser when the boys start in school after next week and just when I think I've caught all the damaged and split ends I notice some I didn't see the last time I dusted.  It's always a problem at this time of the year regardless of the UV protection or hair cover I use.  My straw hat needs to go too.  It tore too many hairs in Spring and I haven't used it since.

As soon as we got home yesterday I applied a heavy amount of leave-in, I've deep conditioned this morning and just generally upped the amount of moisture on my hair so that the damage doesn't get any worse.  I'm so angry with myself for forgetting my leave-in conditioner.  My hair can't do without it on sunny days.

My hair is already looking and feeling much better but I'm not kidding myself because I know you can't really repair hair (unless you know something I don't know) so I'm just trying to bring my hair to a state where I don't have to lose several inches at the next trim.  I'm not shy of losing a couple of inches though.

Next summer I won't think twice about spending a bit more on better UV protection products or worry that I look silly covering all of my hair with a scarf.

Home - I love to get away and not have to think about the usual responsibilities, not having to look at house work or the garden but I appreciate our home more when we've been away.

Hair - Every time I stop to dust, I'm seeing fewer damaged and split ends so that's good.  Hair routine is back on track and it's amazing how quickly my hair's already looking better and feeling softer.  I'm sticking with Gliss Repair 19 for the rest of the year.  I wanted to try some other lines but right now I know this line works and I don't want to screw up a good thing that works just fine when my hair isn't in super condition!

Aw!  Thanks Trisha. Smiley

Hair - I can hardly bear to think of it any more.  I just don't know how I'm going to get through summers without having several inches trimmed off after each summer.  It's the same story every year.  Yeah, yeah...gonna have to let my scalp suffer and wear hats and scarves. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  Too late this year.  I don't feel like measuring now, I want a trim some time soon and just lose whatever needs to go.

Wash, cond. leave-in, comb cream with UV protection.  I wish I'd brought along my shampoo, cond. leave-in and the comb cream last week when I was at the vacation rental home.  Perhaps things wouldn't have been this bad.  I remembered everything last year and I still had fried ends.  I guess a physical hair cover is my only option.

It must be the thick, coarse texture and round diameter that makes my hair prone to drying out and becoming damaged from the sun. Sad  I don't know if other Asians hair is this sun sensitive.  I never did anything to protect my hair in CA when I was a teenager but I think I've mentioned before that perhaps I just didn't care or know much about hair care back then.

Weather - temperatures have drastically dropped which I like but unfortunately it means I've caught a cold which I often do if the temperatures suddenly drop even if I dress for the changing weather.

Chores - Laundry, more laundry, gotta get on the boys case about their rooms to get them ready for next week when they go back to school I just can't get my own act together on this house as long as they're still home, will get the bathroom cleaned because I hate dirty bathrooms and kitchens.  I absolutely can't stand it.

*Thumbs up!* ladies. Grin

Great!  In-laws being dumped on me already tomorrow when I was prepared for them on Sunday.  I'd psyched myself up for that.  Hub didn' buy a roast we could all eat so now I'm preparing salmon and chicken because MIL doesn't eat seafood.  I hate change and impulsive "plans".  Well, it doesn't suit our current circumstances.  This could turn in to a very long and nasty rant.

Hair - I had enough of dry ends last night so I applied a handful of olive oil, watched Criminal Minds and took a shower, applied regular conditioner.  Feeling better this morning.  Washed, 1 mins. cond. and leave-in this morning.  I'm thinking of having a 2" trim next month so I'm sure my hair's cut a bit above any split ends and the driest parts come off.  I can't see or feel the damage in plain light anymore but when I look at my hair through light I can see where the color and internal structure is damaged.
