Hair hurts??

Hi! I have a question. In the past year or so I have noticed my scalp hurting more and more. I don't wear my hair in pony tails or any up-do anymore because of the pain. I feel in at my sides and top of my head. My hair is past my waist and sorta fine. I don't know if it's the weight, but I got some layers to ease the pain. I still wish it would stop. Even touching my head hurts. My hair also seems to be a little thinner there. No balding, just thin. Does anyone else experience this? And does anyone know if I just need to break down and get a haircut or if there's another way to ease the pain?

Have you thought about seeing a doctor? Maybe it's a nerve or skin thing happening? Sounds like it's worth looking into medically before anything else. Good luck and let us know what happens.

When my hair was long (about BSL), the weight of it hurt my neck sometimes (particularly when it was wet in the shower) but I don't remember experiencing scalp pain like you are describing. Hopefully some of the other ladies here will have some solutions for you.

I guess I should. I first wanted to see if anyone else knew about it before going to the doctor. Making an appointment can be a pain. Thanks.

You should definitely see a doctor. If your scalp hurts to touch, it could possibly be shingles. Do you have scaliness or flaking?

OOOh,shingles is highly contagious so it's worth checking out.

Well I decided to get my hair cut about 4 or so inches! The pain went down, but I went to a doctor and I have psoriasis. So the doctor was a good idea.

It's got to be relief to have a diagnosis. Psoriasis can be treated. I hope it gets better quickly.

Glad you got a diagnosis! It is treatable and relief can be gotten.
My grandfather got it through a blood transfusion when he had open heart surgery when I was little. He used to get it in the palms of his hands. So bad that his palms would bleed!
