You must have very striking hair to receive those types of comments.  Hair extensions have become quite popular with actresses and musicians.  They usually do not look as nice as the real thing when you get up close.  Maybe you could share some of your styles with everyone here.

I have heard this as well ("Is that really your hair?!"), but I have learned to take this as a compliment. It does take a lot of patience and effort to keep up healthy, long hair, and those who don't have it obviously have the secret will for it if they're commenting on it

The first time someone asked me if my hair was real I was really shocked....now I hear the question about 2 or 3 times a month...I figure that hair my length (just above my knees) is a novelity for most people and I'de rather have them ask than to assume it isn't real...

I work with the public too so I've heard all of the questions and comments....sometimes it is like being a side show act whick can be a little strange every now and then.  But why not I like the attention.

This is a really old thread but still very relevant.  Extensions are so common nowdays that if your hair is long, it makes people wonder.

I visited my home town over the summer, and I'd seen a few folks that I hadn't seen in years.  My step sister kept making a huge deal about how nice and full my bun was, and she was begging me to take it down so she could see the length.  I repeatedly explained to her, that my hair was still the same length as the last time she saw me 2 years ago, because I'd been cutting out layers, but she was still insisting that I remove my bun. So I did finally, to get her to stop bugging me. After I let my hair down, everyone around admitted that they actually thought that my bun was a hair piece. ???

On 2 occasions at 2 different jobs, I've actually had women put their hands in my hair, without my permission mind you, checking for extensions.  

I still can't believe it, and my hair isn't even THAT long!  People also ask me if my eyes are really hazel, they think I wear contacts but, thats a whole other topic. LOL!!!

So, people have touched your hair too huh.  I can't believe the nerve of some people.  But at least you spoke up though, good for you!!  Both times that I've had my hair "violated" by co workers, I was pretty much too shocked to say anything   They usually laughed about it, but by my expression I'm sure they got the gist that I wasn't amused.

People need to learn to keep their hands to themselves!!  Boy,I'll tell you!!  Why do people think that it's perfectly fine and normal to pull or touch someone else's hair?  Things just amaze me!
