Why is it better to comb your hair out rather than brush it? I only comb my hair when it's wet, so that my hair doesn't break, and I brush it often throughout the day. Is it wrong for me to be doing this? Boar bristle brushes aren't available here so I use the one from The Body Shop which is wooden and has metal bristles with round circles on the ends. My hair never falls but I'm not sure if it's damaging my hair... also, does anyone have any suggestions as to what comb would be best to use? I use a plastic wide-toothed one at the moment.

I suppose that depends on your hair type. Before coming to this site I would just leave my hair alone until it was dry, and then comb/brush it. Now, I comb my hair when it's wet and brush it when it's dry, but I'm not sure if my hair is getting damaged due to the brushing. I think I might stop brushing my hair for a little while and what effect that makes on my hair.

I think it also depends on HOW you brush your hair:I never brush my hair with long strokes,only short,light strokes and a bit of hair at a time.Combing on the other hand doesn´t work for me at all,the comb simply gets stuck in my hair-even a wide toothed comb is no help( on dry hair)

Hm,I´m not sure about thick!  Each individual hair of mine is very fine,but I´ve got a lot of it-maybe that´s why I can´t just run a comb through my hair
