coconut oil
Jul 22nd, 2003 at 4:19pm

I just wanted to share that I have been using coconut oil for about a week now, and it's fabulous. My hair is a bit frizzy and it helps with this too. Esp. since it's been humid here lately. I have been washing my hair, letting it air dry a bit and then applying the oil. Not too much.  Then I put it up in a bun for several hours/all day and when I take it down it's really soft. I have applied it to dry hair too. Like the next day i won't have washed it and i put on a little bit to the ends(shoulders down) and brush it through. It is so nice.

You haven't had any issues with it coating your hair or making it sticky?  These are common complaints with coconut oil.

I use coconut oil from time to time too,I think the trick is to apply a VERY thin layer of oil-I rub a bit of oil between my palms and then just smooth it over the lengths of hair.

Actually I think jojoba oil is lighter, but not positive. That is the next oil I want to try. It's just more expensive. When I do apply it I put a bit on my hands, rub my hands together(if it's too slippery I wipe a bit off) and just smooth it on the length like Anne Marie said she does.

Oh, and so far no stickiness complaints Rapunzel(what, if any oil do you use?). I just used it on my sons (17) hair which is getting a bit dried out from excessive pool water contact and sun exposure. I applied it last night after his shower and his locks are just beautiful today. He was even impressed.

I use the Jojoba oil once a week... I rinse it all out though.  I mix rosemary with the jojoba... everyone in the house objects to the rosemary "fragrance". Undecided

I rarely use oil on my hair, it's oily enough all by itself!

Egads! How could anyone object to the scent of rosemary??

I don't know.  I use pure rosemary oil... Sometimes I apply it straight on the hair and other times I mix it with the jojoba oil.   I admit it is quite strong.  They hate it.  I've NEVER been able to apply it without getting some sort of a comment like  Lips Sealed from one of them.
