bright rich red hair color
Mar 31st, 2004 at 1:21pm

I'm lokking for natural hair dyes/rince,plants,herbs,whatever as long as it's 100% natural to enhence the highlights of my hair, even make the color totaly red.I use henna, but I'd like a brighter red.I've seen these carrot/red fruit juice mix recipe, but I've haven't tryed it yet.I'm not shure it'll work thought on top of my henna. Is there any herbs or plant, just like there' chamomille for blond hairs, sage or rosmary for dark hairs...?

Henna is what I usually see recommended for adding red to the hair color.  I know there are lots of different "formulas" for henna, maybe there is one that would give you more red?

I just ran across a receipe for enhancing red hair color:

1/2 cup beet juice
1/2 cup carrot juice

Mix together and pour over clean, damp hair.  Wrap head in plastic and apply hot towel, medium dryer heat or sit in sun for 1 hours.  Shampoo and condition.

I know this is an old thread, but I just stumbled across it and thought I'd add my tip.

A good hair rinse for redheads is tea made from dried hibiscus flowers. I have used a chamomille rinse with some hibiscus added, those flowers have a LOT of red in them.

You can get probably find hibiscus in a health food store, or possibly a Latin American grocery store. The tea tastes great too!

Chamomille is also known for brightening light hair (blondes).

Yep, Bikerbraid, I forgot to clarify that.  Wink I am a strawberry blond - a chamomille-hibiscus rinse was my attempt at multitasking!
