john frieda beach blonde sun streaks!?!?
Jun 29th, 2004 at 8:29pm

hey...i have brown hair and recently got blonde highlights. i'm happy with the highlights, they look natural and everything, but i wanna have lighter hair. today i found this thing by john frieda, called beach blonde sun streaks, which is a mild peroxide gel to give u blonde highlights.  it says it works for blonde to medium brown hair.  do u think this kind of thing would work??/ also - it says it's heat activated, so u can either sit outside in the sun or blow dry your hair.  which would give me lighter results??? thanks!!!!

Yes, the product will lighten your hair.  But as with any product that lightens the hair, it will cause some damage to the hair, especially if you use it on top of the highlighting you have already done.

The damage will manifest itself with dry, brittle hair that is prone to breaking.

You can try to minimize the damage by moisturing your hair, oiling your hair, and treating it very carefully.

Good luck!

[FYI, I deleted the other post with the same question to eliminate confusion and duplication]

thanks for the info! i was just wondering - the bottle said to apply the gel with your fingers.  i want it to look really natural...how could i get this look?? will using my fingers/hands be effective...or should i comb it in?? i have no idea how to do this kinda thing

also - would i be better off using a blow dryer for heat, or sitting out in the sun?? or is it no difference??

Back in the olden days when I was young, I would use lemon juice to lighten my hair.  I found that combing it through my hair gave it a more natural highlighting.
