a far too expensive brand! they sell hair & skin products (i've even seen hairdressers under the label). dunno if it exists in the US though.

I don't really have an itchy scalp.  What is do have is some sort of buildup or something.  I have no idea what it is, but if I run my fingers along my scalp I can feel it.  It feels gritty, like sand.  It can be scratched off easily, and is in very tiny pieces.  It doesn't seem to matter what products I use on my scalp, it is still there.  It is there even right after washing.

I don't know if it hurts anything, but it bugs me that it's there, and makes me want to scratch it off.  Has anyone ever heard of this or experienced it?  I do have an oily scalp.  Have had since I was a teenager.  Sorry if this sounds gross.

it could be dried up or strangely coagulated sebum (maybe with dead skin cells). i have it too if i wait long before i wash. i gladly advise you a brown sugar scrub ... so neat!

Lots of people have this. I've posted on it before. We are constantly shedding skin particles as the body renews itself. Some people shed their skin in invisibly small particles, other people seem to have it build up in larger flakes on their scalp, perhaps due to some genetic factor. The composition of natural hair oils then saturates this and makes it gross.

What I do is a vigorous scalp massage during the wash, when the skin is softened by hot water and cleanser (I do CO, I used to do shampoo). This loosens it so it can lift off and wash away. I no longer get the itchies so long as I wash before my roots get greasy.

Well, it's strange, because I can feel it there as soon as my scalp is dry after washing.  I don't know if it's something the shampoo brings out of the hair follicles that isn't rinsed out with water, or what.  It has to be oil, I would think.
