Starting my hair journey
Sep 15th, 2004 at 1:08pm

Hi everyone!!! Smiley  I decided to join the long lonks salon for inspiration and guidance so that I can achieve my ultimate goal, which is brastrap length. May not seem like such a big deal to some but for me its a momentous task.  I have 4a/4b hair and in my 24 years of life, it has never reached shoulder length.  I just didn't know how to treat my hair and I was never taught either.  I overprocessed, overheated and never moisturized.

I got married in January and decided to get a pixie hair cut (very dramatic and was a hit for the wedding) so that I can start to grow my hair from scratch.  I started with about 3" of hair on top and less than 1/2" at the nape.  Since the cut I was researching how to care for my hair and I learned quite a lot, which I also put into practice and now I have 7" on top and 3.5 " at the nape.

I'm still researching and growing healthy beautiful hair has become my new obsession.  And my husband thinks I've gone crazy but I won't rest until my hair can swing.  Grin

Yeah i know brastrap is long and I've already resigned myself to the fact that its going to take years.   I've estimated that I probably grow about  1/4" a month so I'm thinking it'll take me about 3 yrs to achieve my goal.

I have a lot of patience, plus my first year is almost up so i only have a lil over 2 years to go.

WELCOME!

Starting from a short hair cut gives you the advantage of not having to deal with years of damaged hair (like I do!!).  Your hair will be in beautiful condition as you work towards your goal.  Congrats on making the decision.  We're here to help you achieve your goal.
