I'm new!
Nov 3rd, 2004 at 6:08am

Hi everyone!

So. The Introduction. Or rather, how I become obsessed with growing my hair.

I started with a 5 millimeter's stubble three years ago. I liked it, and since I'm quite butchy, it also suited me. I used to keep my hair that way during summer and then let it grow a bit during the winter- this I did for a few years.

I had always thought that I'm not going to be bald until grandmother age- and the other alternative was to grow a long hair. I never thought that I would feel comfortable with ordinary short hair that people start to get when they pass their 25'th birthday. As I myself was 25, I decided that I didn't want to delay the start of my hair growing project any longer.

So I started to grow it. I have never blow-dried it, dyed or permed, but my hair-washing and brushing habits ensured that I got plenty of knots that I just tore off my hair. As I lloved updos but have some difficulties with them, I used to make them so tight that my scalp practically screamed. Not very smart. But as I had masses of hair to start with, I didn't end up with a total disaster before my hair was brushing my shoulders and I started to look hair stick from the Internet.

That's how I found LongLocks and the guide to growing a long hair. I corrected my bad habits immediately, and also the results started to show from the very next shower. I haven't had a single knot ever since (a few months now) and loose hardly any hair compared to what I did. I wait for nature to repair the damage I caused and will continue to grow my hair...well I don't know exactly, how long, but past waist length it will be Smiley . And I'm eternally thankful for that guide.

Other than growing hair, my life includes studying philosophy, family life with my fiancé and our rabbit. We also have an aquarium and more books than we can count. If I have free time, I also like to take walks, write, bake, draw or knit colorful socks.

How long is your hair?
Shoulder-length. It's medium-thick as a whole, and I know that it would be thicker if I hadn't brushed and torn it until lately. Hope it will recover soon. Sad
What color is your hair?
Golden blonde. It's rather rare as natural color, and I love it. My stylist, of course, would love to put some highlights to it, but I have systematically refused. And will continue to do so.
Is your hair straight/curly/wavy?
Straight and stubborn. My individual hairs are very fine, shiny and silky and they resist any hairdos hard. Unfortunate for them, I love updos, so I fight them every morning to a bun- with a bun net as my secret weapon. But I doubt that I will ever be able to make a French Twist by myself.
Do you have favorite products to use on your hair?
I use Body Shop's Olive Oil shampoo and Honey conditioner.
What are your favorite hair accessories?
Hairs sticks!!! I love them and wear them almost daily. Some sort of hair ornament I wear every day. Hair sticks of any sort are hard to come by here. That's how I ended looking for them in the Net. Smiley My first LongLocks sticks are on their way, and if the delivery goes without too much problems, I'm planning to buy many more. Smiley

Welcome! Look forward to chattin with ye 'round the boards!

Oh, and don't let your stylist pressure you into doing anything to your hair you don't want to! I think that's brilliant that you've got a natural hair colour that you really love. (VIRGIN hair! Oh wow! What would it be like? I haven't had virgin hair since I was quite young!)

Fair play to you!

Welcome!  I'm sure you will love your LongLocks hairsticks.

The only problem I ever have with them is keeping them in my hair (not because they fall out, but because everyone keeps asking about them, so I have to take them out to show the pretty beads/crystals and finishes!)
