I started by just cutting my bad ends and I noticed as I was cutting the bad ones off it was only leave a very few long hairs for a small section. At first I thought oh it's ok it will be covered then I kept going to the next section and it just kept getting worse so I cut it. I think I might have cut three inches. I know it will grow back and I keep telling my self it will be a little healthier.

And in those shoes, my usual follow up is giving in and going to my hairdresser so she can yell at me and ask me what I've done!  But getting a professional haircut at this point might be a good idea, you'll get your hair shaped into a "shape" you can deal with for a bit, and you'll also have a fresh(er) start to a long, healthy and beautiful mane.  I know this is a painful point in your hair growth, but just keep at it and you'll be where you want to be in no time!

Aw  ((((hug)))) it WILL grow back though.
