Updated Pictures, Including Hairsticks
Dec 1st, 2004 at 1:48am

My November progress pictures are posted on my website. This month's bonus pictures include some recent pictures of me wearing a hairstick bun (they are at the very bottom of the page). The sticks are the Raven Black Jade Chapstix from Longlocks.

What fabulous hair!  I agree with Valerie.. you're site is laid out very well.

On a side note.. you collect knives?  *grins*  I have a passion for swords, mainly Katanas.  But.. I usually train with mine.  They're not for show.

Now that sounds cool.  I would love to learn to use mine.

Thanks for you complements on my website. Yes, I collect knives, swords, and tomahawks  Grin. No 'wall hangers' for me, they all 'work for a living'. My favorite sword is a two-handed tactical short sword (which on me is closer to a full-sized sword). One of these days I'm going to set up some targets in the back yard Grin.

Very cool, Gollan.  I'd like to learn how to use knives, but I've always felt most comfortable with something with a longer blade.... *smiles*

I bought an unbelievable katana from this site:  http://www.nosyuiaido.com/

I paid a pretty penny for the forged carbon steel blade, but it is simply the best weapon I have ever owned.  Likely because it was custom made to fit me, and not a premeasured or standard length blade.   I'm not saying anything against a standard blade length, but having one tailored to you?  In a life or death situation, it's the katana I'd choose.

This is a bit off-topic, but does anyone study Kyudo?  (Japanese form of archery)  I've always wanted to study, but I'd likely have to drive to another state just to get lessons.  That said, there are enough hunters around here that I've been able to pick up some skills with a standard longbow....  Just wondering.

Embarrassed   Sorry for talking everyone's ears off.

I must ask--where/how did you both learn such wonderfully fun things?

Valerie,
It started with a couple of training videos and sorta took off from there, then I took a couple courses in Japanese weaponry training at a local dojo.  Now I have a sensai whom I visit and he tutors me.  I'm not a commited "let's go to challenges" type of student, I just wanted to learn a different art form.

As for work with all other types of swords... I'm pretty much self-taught.  And as for working with a bow and arrow.. well, I just went to sporting goods store and talked to the guy behind the counter about what I wanted to learn.  He gave me some pointers, and that was pretty much all I needed!

But let me warn you.. it's an addiction.   Smiley

Novusfemina,
That sounds so neat.  It will have to go on my list of hobbies to start.  I like the idea of training videos to start with, but I'd have to practice at my parents because of my animals.

Valerie,
I have a little "training ground" in the backyard for my sword trining, and I've set up a little shotting gallery (bow and arrow type of shooting gallery, mind you) set up in my driveway (away from traffic of course!)

But I keep having to pull arrows out of the side of my house...  Cheesy
