OMG - the hair, the cat - you are making me drool with envy.

The smoother comb is about the only basic tool I haven't gotten - I guess I should huh?

Looking great ...g

Well!  Today I have figured out my Mary Poppins hairdo.  Its all pins, no elastics.  Must mean my hair is getting longer.  Will measure again Sept. 1st.

Here it is!

...

My outfit came today, but it is too big and too red.  I'm going to exchange for a small and black.

Had an excellent lesson today.  All of my solos are ready.  Just fixing nit picky stuff.  The only song I don't have pat is "Be Our Guest", have a few words to fix and one measure is funky but otherwise I'm good there, too.

Next recital is in November, and will be songs from "Gypsy".  I haven't seen it so I'm going to rent it.  The Bette Middler version.  Got 2 songs from this show today, only went over one, but there's time.  Wonder what my costume will be for this one...?

Sweetie doing better today w/the boys.  She's in the top of the cat tree, which is her usual spot.  It is actually the first day she's out when they're out and not hiding.

WOW your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I just love that MaryPoppins Do !

The color looks slightly different. Did you do anything to it? Or is it just the light when you took the picture?

Great updo and creativity Sakina as always  Cheesy Cheesy
Also about the dress I think it may be a blessing in disguise. Wasn't Mary Poppins a nanny, some sort of? Weren't nannies supposed to be dressed formally and austere? So dark coloured clothing may be more into the role? But of course I could be very wrong here, not really an artistic person, me. Grin

Mary Poppins was practically perfect in every way, and with that gorgeous hairstyle you've made a terrific start.  Grin

Sweetie should get used to the boys; my friend's cat hid in the basement for an entire month when she brought a second cat to the house.  They tolerate each other now, though.   Roll Eyes

Long hair is considered bohemian, which may be why I grew it, but I keep it long because I love the way it feels, part cloak, part fan, part mane, part security blanket.&&&&Sir Arthur Wing Pinero

Thanks, everybody.

OK, Divewench, I didn't expect such positive feedback-here's how I did it.
Make a 1/2 pony bun, pushing it forward slightly to create a bit of pouf (my hair's too short for a Gibson Girl so I didn't get much pouf) and pin in place, pinning in all 4 directions and the tail-this is so the bun is slightly flattened.  Take the rest of the hair that is hanging down and twist as you lift it up.  Fold the hair back onto itself, so the tail is next to/behind the twist.  Place the loop of the twist at the base of the bun and slightly under it.  Pin into place.  Take your fingers and gently "comb" the sections toward the center so it is not 2 distinct portions.  Pin some more if necessary.  Voila!  I think I used a bit of spray 'cause I went out.  It felt super light weight.

My replacement outfit should be on its way soon.  I got my wig for Ariel ordered and my costume rented.

This morning I was going to french braid my hair but it turned out AWFULL.  So, I wanted my hair to look nice 'cause today was my last day w/my Mesa students and I did mini buns w/ a zigzag part.  I think it came out really cute, so here's a pic of the part and the tool I used to make it.

...

...

So, next time you get bored w/your part, give it a try!

(Those sparkly bits are my left nostril piercing and my monroe piercing on my right upper lip.)

I am continuing to improve w/my AE-as of today I'm working on the adrenals specifically.  I expect to feel pretty crapy, from the detox and 'cause its my moon tomorrow.   Tongue

Tomorrow is my LAST day at Gold's.  While I'll miss my students, I'm already feeling like a weight has been lifting.

Oh yeah!  Doc says I can go back to ballet & bellydancing and if things get out of whack we'll address them.  Yay!

Today I received #111:

Plum Posey Futuristix SE

WOW.  I mean WOWWW.  The bead is totally awesome!  I love them.

Thanks, G_L.  Yes, Mary Poppins is the perfect nanny.  I have the movie and she does wear colors (this is Disney after all) and so since I plan on wearing this costume again in the future I thought I'd go w/a fun color.  The red didn't have enough blue in it for my skintone and made me look like a Victorian tomato.

...

Not a look I was going for, it certainly clashed w/ my cameo earrings and necklace (heehee).
Black is my lucky color, so I know I'll feel more comfortable and confident in the new outfit, so I agree it is a blessing in disguise.  Grin  You are not wrong!!

I hope we get some good pictures this time!!  Will plan carefully.  I think I have 3 or 4 costume changes for this recital.  Eeek!  Luckily I'll have a dresser, or else I wouldn't make it to all the songs.

Moonchild-the Mary Poppins hair pic was taken w/o the flash.  The natural light makes it look really different.
