Today I began my work on creating my cat makeup for Halloween.  These pics show my second attempt-the colors were wrong the first try.

Me w/o costume
...
With costume and wig (missing teeth and ears, also the obi)
...
Close up of makeup
...

As you can see, the placement needs to be moved.  This is a work in progress, I'd welcome any feedback or suggestions.

Having braided pigtails made the application of makeup very easy.

Thanks!  I'm learning so much working on this project.  What I'm discovering is that the same techniques apply no matter what you're making, a fantasy cat (me) or skeleton (hubby).

Here's hubby...this is the 2nd time I'm painting his face.  Just for fun I tried purple for the shading.  I think not (blending not withstanding!)
...

It was after doing this face that I realized the techniques still apply and so I wanted to do it again.  Hubby didn't want to have to wash his face again, so I painted my own face.  I think I'm now on the right track for his Pirate Skeleton:
...

...
Can't wait to do it again tomorrow!  Minor adjustments to the line thickness and I think that'll do it!

Thanks!  I hope to improve my techniques in the next few weeks!

Lisabelle-there's a Canadian makeup artiste named Genevieve Gagne "Jinny", she has great style and talent and 3 videos and 1 DVD.  I bought 2 of the videos and the DVD and the Mehron brand Paradise AQ paints.  They're water based, so they wash off easily.  Mehron sells a barrier spray to keep the paint from wipeing off, I've got some on order.

Today I spent at least 2 hours fitting (and re-fitting) my cat teeth.  They're actually the upper and lower set for Werewolf fangs, and I only did the top set.  It has this low temp plastic that you melt w/hot water and man! does it take practice!!!!!
I've almost got 'em where I want 'em, however I may just leave 'em as they are 'cause its been a lot of work.  Word to the wise: if you decide to do these kind of teeth, PLAN AHEAD!

Next will be to do the cat makeup and add the teeth.  I'm having a pair of ears custom made, I hope they get here in time for the Halloween party but for sure for Halloween eve.  *rubs hands together in anticipation of scaring kiddies and adults alike*

I have a trim scheduled in December, I'm thinking about having her shape my hair.  This is a new hairdresser for me, she's a curly girl!!

Sakina, I checked out Jinny and she seems really cool! Once I did a mummy make up on myself for halloween.  It was from a Martha Stewart halloween issue.  It took a lot of prep, I had to soak paper towels and bandages in instant coffee then let them dry over night.  Hubby got me all wraped up, just my head, face, arms and torso, I wore a robe over the rest.  I blacked out my teeth and put at least a ton of powder all over so I looked all dusty.  Freaked out my neigbor big time!  Grin

I just realized I hadn't posted for a few days.  Sunday hubby and I participated in the Phoenix Race for the Cure.  It was the first charity event in many years for me...since 6th grade I think.  I really enjoyed the event.  My mom's a breast cancer survivor.  We walked in the noncompetitive part, with some of his co-workers.  I hope we'll make it a regular thing!

Hair is sad-waiting for LML product to arrive.  Quite a few splits-been waiting on the bliss balm so I haven't used the coconut oil recently and EEEK!  split ends.

I think this is #119:

Moss Swirl FantasyStix

YUmmmmY!  Gorgeous!!!  YAY!!!!!

Already planning next year's Halloween party...and still waiting on stuff for this year's event to arrive.  I think we'll be hosting annual Halloween parties starting next year.  I'm very happy hubby's on board with this.  I love to plan events.

On a sad note, my 36" poseable skeleton arrived broken so he's going back tomorrow.  I hope his replacement arrives unscathed, well as unscathed as a skeleton can be, ya!

Ahh, Fall.  It is time to get out the long sleeves and jackets!  Time for TEA!!!  If any of you are looking for cool tea stuff and yummy tea, check out www.republicoftea.com!  I ordered a tea rack that goes on the wall (serious lack of storage space in AZ houses, unless you've got a million+ $ house!) and an electric kettle that saves energy and heats the water really fast.

Another happy note: I got #27 chillout spray and #13 bliss balm yesterday so my ends are HAPPY!!

Hair seems a little longer today.

I don't have to work today, I hope I can fit in some braid practice time.  I ususally tend to forget unless I have something coming up and I want to wear my hair a certain way THEN I remember to practice.  Guess I have a lot that I have to think about.

UGH!  Today I'm sore from teaching yesterday.  If I'm sore, I wonder how my students are feeling!!!

Just one more big box of Halloween stuff coming from fright catalog-still waiting on my uv chalk and treats from oriental trading company.  I'm not giving out candy this year-I ordered skull maracas, assorted whistles (pumpkins, ghosts, witches) and pumpkin magnets.  I figure since many parents don't let their kids eat the candy that I'd offer something to encourage their creativity.  The magnets are really for the little ones, so they can be put on the fridge and admired.  Frankly, I can't wait to play with the maracas myself!

Tonight is a big facepainting practice night.  Been a little lax (unwilling skeleton head) and so it is time to perfect the technique!

Sakina, I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't hand out candy on Halloween!  Grin  I try to find fun things for different age groups - crayons are always a hit, and throwing in a free Frosty coupon for Wendy's helps the sweet tooth later!  I never thought of ordering from the Oriental Trading catalog - I'll have to keep that in mind for next year!

Good luck with the braid and makeup practicing!
