Glad to hear your toes are healing well. RE: Tibetan singing bowls, do you play them by tapping them or do people ever run the rod around the rim of the bowl? I've only seen them played one way, but... just curious.

Anais,
There are several ways to "play" a singing bowl.  One option is to strike the side of the bowl, releasing one tone (this is the heart chakra tone on my new bowl) and another is to run the mallet around the rim very slowly producing another sound entirely (this is the root chakra tone on my new bowl).  There is a wah-wah sound that can be created by first getting the bowl to sing (which is option #2) and then placing the bowl's rim just above the mouth about an inch away.  By making wah-wah shapes with your mouth you will change the sound.  No sound is being made by your body-it is the changing shape of the oral cavity that bounces the sound around inside your mouth.
I've tried it, need to practice more.
Another sound that is new to me is to put a small amount of water in the bowl.  By using the mallet around the rim technique, I think its supposed to sound like dolphins singins.  Haven't tried this one yet.

I have rubbed a damp finger around the rim of a crystal glass to create a ringing tone that is very pretty.  I imagine your singing bowl is even prettier.

Sorry, G_L but any style of sticks are fair game!!

*tooting my own horn*
I'm pleased to announce that today I made my first pot roast.  And it was good!  It was New England style, so there's horseradish in there and potatoes, onions and carrots.  I also made gravy Smiley YUM

I'm getting anxious to measure my hair, but I'm waiting until the first.  I feel like my hair is longer, though.

Finally painted hubby's face again-getting better each time but not as good as I want it.  Not that I'm expecting perfection but when I see where I can improve I want to.

Our Halloween decorations are so cool!  I don't have pics yet, but I'm very proud of what we've got done so far.  Just a few more pieces coming...I love planning events and decorations!!!

Wednesday is another meeting of the chanting group.  YAY!

Tuesday I have a pedicure, and boy do I need it!  I'm gonna get my nails painted black.  Wheeeeeee!

My hair has been so soft lately.  I love Louise Marie Longhairs' products. YAY!

My foot feels much better since my pedicure yesterday- the parafin dip felt soooo good.  I have my nails a super dark purple (forgot to bring my black polish) with little orange gems on my big toes. Smiley

I'm still really high from chanting tonight.  I'm so happy this has come into my life.  November 6th we have a class session.  I'm ready to learn more.

Oh, man!  I've been letting my ends go and I had some really big splits.  Eeek!  I got a pair of splitnippers from Louise Marie Longhairs-they look like a bird and the scissor is the beak.  They work really great 'cause the blades are not too long.

Today is the first time I've used my 7.5" pike clip and I love it!  It holds all of my hair and doesn't drag it down.  Woohoo!!!

The yard is looking really spooky...unfortunately we've been having winds that have ruined my spiderwebs and knocked over my crows and tombstones.   Sad  I'm waiting to get closer to the big day to fix it.

Whew!  It has been a very busy weekend for me and it took me until today to recover!!
Saturday night we went to our friend's party.  I wasn't going to go 'cause I can't wear high heels right now since I hurt my foot a while back.  That eliminated my geisha cat idea.  I didn't want to go to a Halloween party and not dress up...so I had the idea to dress as a bellydancer.  No costuming problems there!  So, I painted hubby's face and threw together my outfit and voila! we went to the party.  I'm glad I went and got out of the house.  Hubby won runner up for best costume as a pirate skeleton.

...

...

We couldn't stay too long because I have to teach on Sunday.

Ahh, now we come to Monday.  The big day.  I got up at 5:30 am to paint hubby's face for work.  I was going to go back to bed, but decided to work on my costume for the evening.  Since the front yard is decorated like a cemetary, a bellydancer didn't fit so I thought I'd become a Gypsy Witch.  I don't think I've ever been a witch on Halloween before, strange, huh?  So I needed to get a hat and a cape and with my Ariel wig and some of my tribal bellydance clothes I figured I'd be all set.  BTW, Osco Drug store has great Halloween stuff-I got 2 great little strobe lights for $10 each!  So, I ran around and went to Osco's and to the local costume shop-got a few extra things too... and then went to my voice lesson.  By the time I got home I had to start getting ready-I drew on the sidewalk and driveway: pentagrams, evil eye, things people come to a witch for-love, money, fame and fortune, an Aum, moon and star, sun and compass.  It really tied together the decorations, I think I'll do something like it every year.
It has been very windy and my decorations were a bit mussed so I tried to perk them up and then had to get my black nail polish on!  I did a bit of creative face painting on myself, tribal fantasy I guess you could call it.  We had hardly any trick or treaters!  The ones that did come up to the house were a little freaked out-I put up an alter by the front door, with black candles, inscence, crystals and a few spell books.  The fog machine was on a timer and that scared some of the little ones.  Our neighbors manned the grill with brats and burgers, chips and beer.  We were out there for 4 hours, I was exhausted by the end.  I took a nap today (Tuesday) and think I'm now recovered.  YAY HALLOWEEN!

And a few pics to preserve the moment...

Sakina, you and hubby look great! BTW, did you notice the orb a little above the door in the pic of your front walkway?

WOW you really nailed that skeleton makeup!  You guys look great!

I see the orb next to Sakina's hat - is that the one you mean, Juri?  Or is there another one?

BTW, if anyone ever sees an orb in any of the pics I take in my house, don't tell me.  Smiley

There's one in the pic below the photo with Sakina and her hat. It's a little hard to see, but it's right above the door, kind of covering the black streamer thingies....I hope I'm not just seeing things.

Hubby only got runner-up??  Shocked First place must have been awsome!  Great costumes for both of you and your decorating outside is enviable.  I put out 3 fake pumpkins with lights and called it good!  Grin
