Well, I got my costume today.  I'm a little disappointed.  The wig is AWFUL(can I make those letters any bigger?)
The boa is great, I'll get a lot of use out of that and the gloves are nice and soft.
I'll look fine I'm sure, but I guess I had my hopes up too high.
In doing still more research on the 1920's I discovered that women who didn't want to cut their hair but still have the look of the bob would make finger waves on the hair down to the ears and then BUN the rest at the nape of the neck.  They used special combs to create the waves, leaving them in until the hair dried.  I don't think I'm going to be able to wear the wig.  I'm going to stop at a wig shop for help, but for $18 it was worth a try.  Besides, I think it will work out better in the long run without it since I have a costume change and will wear a snood then so that means I'd have to let my hair down anyway.  Everything always works out one way or another!!
I'm hoping the snoods will be in the mail today!

Well, I have good news and bad news.

Good news:

Oriental Peony Original Hairstix arrived today

Bad news:

While I was out having my voice lesson the mailcarrier came with my snoods and I wasn't here to sign for them.  So, I have to go to the post office tomorrow.  The same PO that I had to go to today to pick up my costume 'cause while we were out having Dim Sum on Saturday they tried to deliver and again I wasn't here to sign.  Argh!

I'm so anxious to try them on with my dress.

Yippee!  I got my snoods today.  They are sooooo pretty.  I've got to play with the placement.

Got my wig cap-gonna play with it before I go to bed.  I hope it works out since I already bought the wig, but I'll check tomorrow anyway to see if anyone at my salon is willing to do finger waves.

Today I CO'd and my hair is so soft.  Several of my waves became very spiral curls so I'm hopeful with more length I'll get more spirals.

Determined to get the barest of trims in May.

Felt the need today to count current hairsticks: 68 pair (incl. geisha and individualistix)

Yep, if G_L says I'm an addict then it is official.  Do I get to have an induction party??

I tried the wig on w/the cap and it works.  It's not a very flattering style, the Betty Boop Platinum Blonde wig, I don't even look like myself.  Its weird, but will look good with the full costume.  Next is the makeup.  How to do 1920's and then into 1950's siren.

This Saturday is my 8th wedding anniversary.  We're going out to a fancy seafood restaurant.  Yum!  Hmm, what am I gonna wear (in my hair, of course!)?

Happy Anniversary!  Enjoy your special evening.  I would guess that LongLocks sticks will be in your hair (Rapunzel will be proud!)

Aww, thanks!  I'm very fortunate he's a great guy and it has been a very enjoyable 8 years.

I'm still working on the digital camera thing, so I thought I'd practice by putting in a photo of my hairdo from yesterday.  I forgot to put my hairsticks back in when I took the photo so, oh well.  (They were the Lilac Chintz Glimmerstix, FYI)

This held so well I slept in it and it was still intact when I woke up this morning!

http://tinypic.com/4rp0f5

If it doesn't show too well, I french braided the top until I got to my ears where I finished off the regular braid and secured it with a band.  Then I took the remaining hair with the braid and twisted them together into the bun and pinned it.  Too bad I forgot the hairsticks, huh?  Tongue

Now, today's do didn't have sticks in it.  I was dreaming about this do when I woke up.  I think it's cute.

You can't really see the front, but I took a long tail comb and did a zig zag part before seperating the hair down the back.

I have no idea why the first pic is good sized and the second is giant.  I didn't do any resizing just to see what would happen.  Any ideas?

I know I just posted a few minutes ago, but I really must put this down.
Three months ago yesterday my beloved fur baby Magus died.  We just planted a lime tree in the backyard in his honor, with the one whisker we had left from him.  He had to be cremated because there was an autopsy-it's state law.

This is his sister, Sweetie.

http://tinypic.com/4rp9pj

His eyes were a beautiful yellowy green, and he was so loving and interactive.  I thought limes would remind me of his amazing eyes and the fruiting tree honors all the love and joy he gave to me.  He'll be remembered everytime we enjoy a lime off of "his" tree.

Glad to help.  You could edit your original post to use the smaller pic.  I could then delete my post.  This would save the dialup users a bit of time Wink

BB, I tried to change the pics but I got an error message saying I couldn't do it.  I must of done something wrong, but at least I tried.  I happen to be one of those dialup people!

G_L, the key is practice.  I'll bet if you can type on a keyboard you can do more than bun.  Don't get me wrong- I love buns!  (Insert your own joke here)

I'll post on anniversary dinner tomorrow...

Announcing my newest addition:

Pearlagance Sterlingstix

They really are elagant and beautiful.

Today is a day off-breakfast awaits (priorities you know!) chocolate parfait here I come!

Let's see...

dinner was really yummy.  It was a seafood restaurant but I ordered beef Wellington.  It's a house speciality and it was very good.  I hadn't had it for a really long time & it hit the spot.  We shared a chocolate hazelnut torte, gratis since it was our anniversary  Grin

Here's my anniversary dinner hair:

http://tinypic.com/4slg6h

I'm sporting Crystal Wedding Bridalstix.  Love that disco ball!

Now today is our actual anniversary and we've had a really great day.  Slept in late, went to the South Mountain park (one of the largest municipal parks in the US) and climbed a trail.  Then we went to a nursery to look at exotic fruit trees and came upon several Kangaroo Paw plants.  Very cool-will probably get a few.  Following that we went to our favorite breakfast restaurant for second breakfast (see Fellowship of the Ring) YUM and then went home and took a nap.  Ahh.  What a nice way to spend our day.

I'm bummed I missed out on some gemstone sticks...do I have enough?  I think it's a rhetorical question.  I really don't want an answer!
