Aw, Angel honey, I'm sorry...I didn't mean to make anybody sad!   Sad  But, yes ma'am, you'd better believe I do everything I'm supposed to do in order to prevent the big CA from coming back to this body!   Wink  Hmm, maybe a tattoo in a particular area of the body that reads "CA keep out!"  No, no--too much.   Roll Eyes  *hugs*

Hair
Hair today is pulled into a high ponytail.  Hair is pretty greasy and would look terrible down, but actually looks fine up.  Instead of jumping right into CO washing, I believe first I'll choose to migrate full time into once-a-week washing where I shampoo, vinegar rinse, and condition.  But I'm just so wishy-washy about the cleansing routine!  --Well, actually, it's not me; it's my hair.  It seems if I *plan* to wash only once a week, then that's the week my hair looks absolutely horrible unwashed.  If I don't *plan* on doing it; if it just happens, like this week, the hair looks good and doesn't bother me.  However, I think braiding every night will help (less tangles) and not using a brush for the first few days of the no-wash cycle should also help.

Other
Hubby had to take one of our cats to the vet this morning--again (2nd or 3rd time this summer).  Apparently, Pinky is allergic to some weed growing in the fields surrounding our house, because her lips keep swelling up.  Poor thing looks Angelina Jolie!!   Grin  One of the other cats, Tootie-bug, also has allergies, but hers is in the throat--she sounds like an old duck call when she meows!  Interestingly, the three boy cats born in the same litter have no allergies, just the poor girls.

I'm looking forward to doing a whole lot of nothing this weekend!   8)

Hair
So...with a once-a-week-wash goal in mind, I tried to establish a new routine this week.  The plan was to wash on Sunday, skip Monday and Tuesday, and wash again on Wednesday.  Then I would skip Thursday and Friday, washing again on Saturday, etc., etc.  Welllll, I lasted through the first part of the plan (W on Sunday, and wait 'til Wednesday).  But by Tuesday my hair was so greasy that I was ashamed of it.  I couldn't wait to wake up Wednesday morning and shampoo.  And then, my hair looked so awesome after I washed yesterday, I couldn't resist washing it again today!   Roll Eyes

So you know what I say?  Fuggetaboutit.  If my hair likes to be shampooed and conditioned every day then, by golly, that's what I'm gonna do!   8)  It's really healthy, and as long as I keep taking good care of it, there's no reason not to shampoo often.

Once again using the Giovanni 50:50 shampoo and Smooth As Silk conditioner, oilling with Jojoba while hair is still damp, and sleeping in braids.

Other
This is the first week of classes at the university where I work.  Ugh.  Things have been insane--and I don't even work directly with the student population.  But they're coming back to campus affects us all.  And not necessarily in a good way.  The first week is the worst, though, and Life should be getting back to normal soon.  *fingers crossed*

On the faith front, wellllll, things are pretty quiet there, too.  I simply haven't had the time or energy to explore.  Besides, I can still believe in my God (which I do) while learning about other faiths.  I don't need to abandon Him completely.  I strongly believe that it's okay to question our beliefs from time to time.  To say, okay, this is what I believed in the past; do I still believe that?

Can you believe this is already the last week of August?!

Hair
Hair seems happy being washed every day.  So be it.  I usually skip at least one day (of washing) every weekend anyway, so it will still get breaks from the routine.

Other
Something I wrote about Faith in my paper journal this morning (yes, I also keep a paper journal):

"...it's silly, really.  I get bored with myself, in terms of faith, and I go seeking the different, the exciting, or what I believe to be exciting.  Deep down in my heart I know that the one true faith is Jesus.  But I need to stop the roller coaster of religion that I ride.  I tend to become rather fanatical at times, and try to fit myself into a mold of hardline, by-the-letter Christians.  But since that mold is not correct for me, eventually I must break out and give myself some air, usually in the form of exploring things that are directly the opposite of mainstream Christianity.  But the enchantment dries up rather quickly with the new found "freedom" of most Pagan paths and I always find myself missing my walk with God.  But I can choose to stop the cycle of the roller coaster, the severe highs and the extreme lows, and be simply a child of Jesus.  I don't have to fit myself into the mold of someone else who says, "This is what you must do."  God is the only one qualified to command me."

Just wanted to share that.

That's beautiful, Trish.  Smiley

Nice to know that I'm not the only one keeping a paper journal as well...or spilling my religious guts in it.  Grin

Hair
Left it dirty this morning so I could bun it.   Smiley
I'm VERY close to BSL.  My length now gets stuck between my back and the car seat.  Exciting stuff!

The university is closed for Labor Day, so I'm taking advantage of the 3 day weekend and turning it into a FIVE day weekend.   Grin  I don't have to come back to work until next Thursday!  I very much need this long holiday, or I felt as if I would kill somebody...anybody.
--And that's so messy.  I plan on doing a whole lot of nothing!  6 more hours of work, then I'm gone, fellow babies!   8)  Y'all have a good Labor Day and eat something decadent!   Kiss

After my extended weekend, yesterday was my first day back to work.  So of course I'm covered over with requests for data files.  *sigh*  Those email requests just keep comin' in!!  Still, as busy as I'll be for the next few days playing catch up, the time off was absolutely worth it.  What an utterly fine feeling it was to do what I wanted, when I wanted.   Smiley

Hair
Skipped washing this morning and put my hair up in a high ponytail.

I hesitate to type this, lest I jinx myself.  But (glances cautiously both ways) I'm finally caught up at work!   Smiley  I don't mind being consistently busy, but I hate being covered over in requests for data.  It's simply not right, being too busy to visit Long Locks.   Sad
Found out today that our health insurance costs here at work will be going up 10% as of January 1.   Angry  Our salary increases were only 4%.  Of course, it's been at least a decade since our annual raises exceeded insurance prices.  *sigh*  I guess the administration expects us little drones to just keep working along mindlessly, oblivious to the fact that we're getting shafted yet again.  I guess I'd better quit thinking about it for now, or I'll start typing in CAPS.  *lol*
All in all, Life is good right now.  The horrible humidity of Summer is finally gone, and Autumn is in the air.  Hubby has a Lodge meeting tonight, which will provide Yours Truly with some quiet time.  I love the man dearly.  But a little time apart, even a few hours, does us good.

Hair
My daughter, the shampoo junky (wonder who she gets it from?!   Grin  ) came home the other night with some Biolage products from JC Penny.  After using them, she said, "Mom, you HAVE to try them!"  *shrug*  So I did.  The shampoo was nice and thick, with a great smell that lasted all day long.  And the balm was pretty nice, too!  She wouldn't tell me exactly how much she paid for them--probably because she knew I'd get on to her about it.  She did say that it costs more than the Giovanni I use.  I didn't even read the ingredients to check for cones.  So while the initial use was impressive, I don't think I would switch.

I used to be a Biolage junkie...waaaay back when I could afford to be!  I was using it on completely different hair back then, however, we're talking permed, color treated, appliance fried, you name it, so I think that it seemed more effective than it actually was.  (Does that even make any sense? Tongue)  Anyway, I noticed that since I've sworn myself to healthy hair that I don't seem to like Biolage the way I used to, it always leaves my hair to heavy and coated feeling, particularly the conditioner.  I've got two half-bottles in my closet that I use every once in a while just to try to get rid of them!

Yes, in your own special "Maggie-ness", that makes sense.  *lol*   Grin  *hugs*  I liked the s+c a lot; in fact, I'm still thinking about that wonderful smell three days later.  I don't believe I've ever been so impressed by the initial trial of a product.  I'm almost afraid to become a Biolage addict, though, because (a) i KNOW it's too expensive for my budget and (b) i'd have to buy the products at the mall, which I refuse to do.  Hate the mall.  Hate it, hate it, hate it.  Oooo, I just had a thought, though...My daughter, who loves the mall, could buy it and we could split the cost.   8)  Hmmm!  Well, I still need to check the ingredients.  We'll see.

Hair is simply pitiful today.  I washed it last night, let it air dry (which I always do anyway) while I watched tv, and then went to sleep with it down.  When I woke up this morning it looked fine.  But the longer the day wears on, the worse my hair looks and feels.  Maybe it's my imagination.  But I think my hair prefers to be washed of a morning instead of the night before.  Fine, tresses; I hear you!

After the avalanche of data requests at work for the past two weeks, suddenly there is nothing.  Nothing!  Not that I'm complaining--Lord, please don't think I'm complaining.   Smiley  I can handle some down time.

I'm being faithful to my Giovanni s+c, using them instead of being tempted by my daughter's Biolage that mocks me every time I step into the shower.  LOL  Forget it, Biolage!  Yes, you smell terrific and the immediate results are no less than fantastic.  But you contain cones and my hair no longer needs cones to be wonderful.  Phooey on you, I say!

Not much happening.  Hubby has a masonic thing tonight, which will give me at least a couple of hours of "me" time.
Another friend and co-worker from the University has turned up with cancer, colon this time.  I just found out late last week.  Lord, I humbly ask that you give me the strength and the wisdom to help Miss K in whatever way You want me to.
My other friend, Miss P, is doing well.  She has finished with her chemo treatments and is currently on Herceptin, the follow up drug for breast cancer.  And her hair is already growing fast!

Geez, I take a break from posting for a few days and the whole place changes!!  That'll teach me...   Smiley

Hair is happy, healthy and growing.  I'll measure the first of October to find out where I'm at lengthwise.

The reason I haven't posted in a week (!!!) is that I've been writing.  I have very little to keep me busy at work these days, so why not take advantage of the lull?  I used to write stories all of the time.  But, as usual, I allowed things to get in the way of what I wanted to do.  I have trouble writing at home because there are too many distractions.  Work, however, seems to fire up my creative juices.  Again I say, why not cook while the oven is hot?   Cool  Y'all take care!

I have, like, one month until I reach official BSL.  Holy cow!

Still working on the story.  Flexing the ol' creative muscles again has had a very positive effect on me in more ways than one.  I'm starting to feel like my old, more carefree self.  I realize now that over the past couple of years I had allowed myself to become "beige".  Mediocre in dress, speech, and action.  It simply won't do.

So yesterday I bought myself some lip gloss (vanilla flavor!) and a Rimmel "cherry kiss" lip pencil.  I know it doesn't sound like much to most of you.  For me, though, it's a big thing, since I don't wear makeup.  I will never go full blown cover girl.  But a touch of color on the ol pucker-up won't hurt, eh?   Wink  Next will come new clothing!  I'm thinking purples and reds and all of the Autumn colors.   Smiley  Ciao darlings!

*Big hug*, good for you on the lip gloss and pencil, that *is* a big deal, a little thing like that can make all the difference in you.  I do that for myself quite often, I love to meander to the drug store and spend some time looking at all the pretty lipstick and nailpolish colors.  Most I would never wear, but for some silly reason it makes me feel good.  Who knows and who cares why, it just does!  I usually treat myself to a new lip gloss or hair thing, just something small, but it makes ya feel good.

You're so close to your goal of BSL, 28 days!!  Cheesy  Congratulations...early!!  Where will you go from there?  Waist?  Butt?  Knees?  Floor?  I can't believe what hair progress you've had, I'm so happy for you!  Smiley
