Finally, I made it to Hobby Lobby!!!  Yay rah for me!  I bought some blank barrettes, the larger of the styles so they will accomodate my buns, and some furry trim   Smiley  and some leopard print felt.  I wanted to buy a couple of charms but, good lord, there are hundreds to choose from.  I started looking through the rows and my brain locked up!  Too many choices.  Which means, drum roll please.......I'll have to make another trip soon!   Grin

Hair
Washed this morning, although I seriously considered leaving hair dirty for the second day in a row.  It was very tempting.  I just take things one day at a time and I let my hair decide what it wants.  Although my hair is now long enough that I must consider the weather when deciding on a style.  If I leave my hair down on an extremely windy day, I'm asking for trouble!   Wink

Hair
Didn't wash today, as I'm kind of diggin' this every-other-day-wash schedule.  Length is happy in a sort of twist.  I'm even thinking of not washing again tomorrow and just slicking back my hair into a ponytail or bun.  *waggles eyebrows*  Rebel that I am...

Other
Overnight we had rain move into the area and it was still coming down most of this morning.  The wind was also blowing hard, almost causing me to do a Mary Poppins in the parking lot!  I use one of those big golf umbrellas, so no telling where I would have landed...maybe in Angel's back yard!   Grin
Yesterday hubby mailed off the gift to my secret santa.   Smiley I'm excited to receive my package as well!   Wink

Hair
Up in a modified twist today, held by one of my hand-decorated barrettes.   Smiley  I'm having so much fun decorating my own that I may never buy factory-decorated barrettes again!
Didn't wash today and probably won't wash tomorrow (washed on Monday).  I've stopped braiding at night, but am still oiling when I wash (no oil on no-wash days).

Other
We have a short work week, as the university will be closed on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Our secretary is on vacation tomorrow (Wed.), thus Yours Truly will be filling in out front.  Years ago, I was the secretary for the department and every now and then I get the chance to revisit my roots.   Smiley

As I mentioned above, I'm having a blast decorating my own barrettes.  Today I'm wearing the faux leopard print design.  This barrette took about 10 minutes to put together, not counting drying time for glue.  It's so easy; why don't more people make their own?!  I wish we owned a digital camera so I could post pictures!   Sad

I probably won't have another chance to post until next week.  So I want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving.  I hope all of you get to spend lots of time with family and friends.    Smiley

lol Trish. Glad to hear you're enjoying your own barrettes so much.  Grin

I totally feel the same way about mine...right down to not having a working camera to take pix of them with. hehe Someday, right?

Your secretary is lucky to have tomorrow off. I wish I did. But you really can't complain with a 4 day weekend! And wouldn't you know it, I work the front desk at my office too. Although, I'm a rock & roll receptionist.  Wink  Have fun revisiting your roots.

Hair
I've returned to braiding at night because I was getting way too many tangles in my length.  Unacceptible.   Angry  Still using Tre Semme and it's still working for me.

Other
Freaky weather...All this week the temperatures have been unseasonably warm for a Missouri November.  Now suddenly we've had a big bad storm front move in.  Right now we're enduring rain.  But overnight the temps are supposed to drop down in the 20s and the rain is supposed to morph into sleet and/or snow.  Grreeaatt.  Well, the weather can do what it wants to...but if we get the least little amount of slick stuff tonight, this little gal ain't going nowhere in the morning!

Can you believe that tomorrow is the freakin' first day of December?!  Holy cow   Shocked
Our last working day here at good ol' Semo U will be the 21st...which just happens to be my wedding anniversary.   Smiley  21 years on the 21st.  Anyway, I have plenty of vacation hours built up, so I think I'm gonna work on the 18th and the 19th, and then take the rest of the week off.  *waggles eyebrows*  That'll give me plenty of time to get my tree up and decorated, and all that jazz.  Having a Christmas tree with cats is...challenging to say the least.  *sigh*  Never a dull moment.   Grin

Hair
No wash day.  Very windy here today so hair is in a low ponytail.  I wanted to put it up in a twisty bun, but my hair isn't in a cooperative mood today.  Like a spoiled child my hair wants its own way, or the feet stomping begins.   Smiley  Have to do a vinegar rinse this weekend; I forgot it last weekend.

Other
Very cold and windy today.  Temperature this morning is 31 degrees but with the wind chill feels like 18.   Shocked  No overnight snow or sleet though (which is why I'm at work).  Saw some light flurries coming in this morning, but nothing serious.

I'm taking off at noon--simply because I can.   Wink  It's a crappy winter day, and we should all be hybernating at home anyway, dangit!!  LOL  I'd rather be at home, feeding the wood stove, than sitting in my office doing nothing.

Still have both houseguests.  BIL's eyesight seems to be improving slowly, but it's anyone's guess as to whether it'll ever be 100% again.  I'm assuming, though, that as long as his eyes are correctible to a passing standard, then he'll still be able to drive a semi.  We shall see.

Hair
No wash day.  Hair seemed to have a lot of static this morning at home, so I put two drops of jojoba oil on the length.  Then when I got to work, hair looked utterly greasy so I put it up in a ponytail.   Angry   Oh well.

Other
Temperatures today have warmed up to a whomping 45 degrees with no precipitation in sight.
Hubby and I will see the neurologist tomorrow morning to find out the results of his MRI scans.
For now I've abandoned the murder mystery I was working on and have started writing a different story.  I have finally admitted to myself that, although I thoroughly enjoy reading a good mystery, I cannot write them.  It got to the point where I was struggling, forcing myself to work on the story, and it shouldn't be that way.  When I work on a regular drama or a romantic comedy the words seem to flow from my fingertips.  --And what's the first rule of thumb for writers?  Write about what you know.  Well, I know nothing about murder, so how in the world can I successfully write about them?!   Huh  I may try my hand at them again in the future, but for now I'm going to concentrate on writing in other genres.

12 more working days until Christmas break!

Hair
It's become evident quite quickly that I need to keep an eye on the frizzies caused by dry artificial heat.  My normal jojoba oil may not be heavy enough for the wintertime.  I'll try a couple of things, extra virgin olive oil and aloe vera gel--separately, of course, to find out what works.
Other than noticing a couple of extra grey hairs, my tresses are still healthy and currently measure between 26 1/4 and 26 1/2 inches.

Other
Some good news from the Neurologist this morning.  Hubby's spinal canal, the tube (so to speak) that the nerves run through, is wide open, which is a good thing.  The doctor suspects hubby's lower facet joints may be causing the extreme pain in his upper back region.  He's not ready to jump into surgery just yet (which is the good news), however he didn't rule it out entirely either.  The next step will be facet joint injections (yeesh) to discover if the pain decreases with pain-blocking medicine.

If the pain decreases or goes away with these injections, then surgery is indicated.  If the injections don't decrease the pain, then we go another route--whatever that may be.  *sigh*  We've been dealing with this problem for two years now, and I don't see an end in sight for the near future.  But, honestly, I didn't expect a quick solution.  That's okay, though, at least we now have a direction in which to head.

Treat of the day:  Russell Stover sugar free pecan delights...YUM.

I'm also finding that what works well for the hair in warm weather, doesn't work as well as it gets cooler out.

It's great that the doctors are able to come up with solutions that my be helpful to your hubby!  Hopefully this will all work out and come to an end sooner than you think. Wink

I'm glad to hear you are getting information on your hubby's condition.  As someone who has lived with chronic back pain for 25 years, I know how frustrating it can be to have pain and not be able to control it.  I hope he is able to get answers and options for dealing with his pain.

Hair
No wash day; hair is up in a twist, held in place with my faux leopard print barette.   Smiley
I'll be SO glad when everything is one length but that won't happen for quite a while.

It is friggin' COLD outside today!   Shocked  Our high temp will be in the low 30's.  And the wind is terrible, which is why my hair is safely pinned up!
My favourite show on tv is currently Ugly Betty.  Since the BIL moved in, we've been watching other things on Thursday nights--I don't even know what.  But it's okay, because I can watch episodes (at work on my high speed pc, of course!) at the ABC site.   Wink
In an earlier entry I mentioned taking off on the 20th and 21st...but now I don't think I will.  I don't know why, but I just feel like I should work those days.  *shrug*  Maybe it's intuition  *shrug*
Today's treat:  Russell Stover sugar free mint patties...YUM!

I had to laugh at your comment - I woke up this morning to -1F and wind chills of -20F.  Our high today was 13F.  The dry air has made everything static-y and my hair is showing it.  Thank goodness for jojoba oil!

BB, I think your 13 degrees beats my 30!!   Shocked  --And that's one race I'll gladly let you win!  LOL

Hair
No wash day #2; hair up in a high ponytail.  I have fallen into a pattern of wash-no wash-no wash-wash.  And the odd thing is this cycle came naturally on it's own; I didn't do it on purpose!  My hair seems happier, too.

Other
Another cold day here in Missouri.  I hope we have a warm spell over the weekend, though, because the ashes need to be cleared from the wood stove.  It's difficult to put more wood on the fire when the ashes are literally a foot high!

Plans for the weekend:  a little grocery shopping; hubby has done the laundry, the usual light house cleaning.

I'm hoping there's enough moolah in the kitty to buy a new pair of jeans.  I'm purchasing clothing in my new size slowly.  I'm not done losing weight, so it would be foolish to rush out and buy a whole new wardrobe--as if I could do that being so poor.   Smiley  My weight is currently 156...I haven't been this size in, oh, a good 15 years.  Sometimes I still have trouble believing it.  But if it's a dream I don't want to wake up!

Oh, I made pie last night.  For Thanksgiving I made a low carb pumpkin pie, the recipe I found online (Stella Style maybe?  I forget).  Holy cow, was it tasty!  And very easy to make.  The crust is made entirely of ground up nuts--that's all, nothing else.  The filling is pumpkin, cream cheese, whipped topping, Splenda, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla.  Press the ground up nuts into a pie dish, mix up the filling, spoon the filling onto the crust, chill for about an hour, and viola'!  YUM

Guess where BIL is today?  --On his way to Cleveland...in a semi!  Yep, he passed his DOT physical and he's been given the okay to drive again!   Smiley  He'll still be staying with us for a while, but at least he'll now be earning the big bucks again.

Also, my stepson started a new job on December 4.  Well, technically, he's in the training portion of the new job, and that will last a month.  But he gets paid while he's training, and he seems to be enjoying himself.  Keep your fingers crossed!
