Thank you Trisha, that's exactly what I wanted to know.  Grin  You must not be a very "oily" person, you are lucky to be able to stretch your washings out like that.  I've tried only twice to push it to every two days and I just couldn't take it.  I have oily skin by nature and it just carries into my roots and especially into my bangs, it looks like I haven't washed in a week instead of a day, bleagh!  I'll be cursed to daily hairwashing and shaving forever I fear!

Curlgirl:  I totally hear what you're saying on the label thing.  I am forever reading labels when shopping.  Unfortunately it took years and a few mistakes ( Angry) to learn where all the hidden "meat" ingredients lie.  It just infuriates me, you try sooo hard to avoid all animal products only to find out that you just inadvertently ate one in something you would never suspect.  GRRR!  Hub & I were vegans for a (short) while, but reverted back to eating dairy products, although very minimally, they are so so bad for you!  The cause of soooo many health problems!  So now we are just plain-ol' vegetarians, no form of meat or fish what so ever.  One thing that makes my blood boil is when places (especially family members) make something and say that there is no meat in it...like mashed potatoes or stuffing, but then follow up with, well there is chicken broth in it, that's not meat, right?  DUH!!!  One great one was my grandmother's brown rice she always makes, she convinced me there was no meat in it, she did not use a meat broth, so I load some onto my plate.  I'm about to eat some and she continues..."I only boil the rice with the chicken legs and then take them out, so it's okay".  No it's not!

Whew!  Sorry Trisha, I'm blabbering on in your journal!   Embarrassed  Well, you can blabber some in mine if you like!  Grin

I'm back finally.  Was out sick all last week with acute bronchitis.  blech!  But even as sick as I was, it was still kind of nice not having to go to work--I'll take time off anyway I can get it!

Hair
Still doing the CO wash every other day.  I have to say I'm amazed that my hair looks this good with as little the amount of shampoo I'm using in the mix.  And actually, Maggie, my hair used to be very greasy like yours.  (i'll be visiting your journal in a little while to blabber  Grin ) It looked horrible if I didn't wash it every day.  I think the key is to gradually decrease the amount of shampoo you use AND do a vinegar rinse at least once a week.  Gradually is the operative word there.  Hair does not respond well to shock or drastic change...at least mine doesn't.

Other
The other day I finished the latest bible study I've been doing at the blue letter bible site.  It was the last part of the Old Testament.  I received a 99% on my final exam and an overall grade of 97.7% for the course.  I think that's the best I've ever done!  Now I'm on to the New Testament!

In about three weeks my sister and her hubby will be coming from Arkansas for a short visit.  I don't get to see her very often, since they live pretty far away, so it'll be nice to visit.  But I'm glad they're the type of folks who only stay about 3 days and then go home.  I know that sounds bad, sorry.  It's not that I don't love my sister.  It's just that...a little of her goes a long way!  There are only the two of us, no other siblings, and there's 7 years between us, she being the older (but not necessarily the wiser or more mature!).  Okay, see, I need to stop talking about it, because even though it's 3 weeks away, I can already feel my teeth gritting together!  *sigh*  It'll be all right, Trisha.

Nice to see you again, and I hope the bronchitis didn't hit you too hard.

No one can drive you crazier than relatives.  You don't have to feel the least bit guilty about that; but you do have to put up with them.   Roll Eyes  For a short while, at least.  Good luck!   Grin

Hair
It was a wash day this morning.  After air drying I left my hair down and just tucked the sides behind my ears.  It's long enough now to do that without any stray strands causing trouble.  Wow!  It's been a while since my hair was this long.   Smiley

Other
Hubby called while ago to let me know that he's fixing chicken fajitas for supper, with no-fat refried beans for a side.  Sounds yummy!  Of course, he can't seem to cook a meal without meat.  It's, like, genetically impossible or something, I don't know.

My stepson is moving in with us, hubby's son from his first marriage.  He's been slowing bringing his things out to the farm for weeks now.  But he told hubby that tonight is The night.  Neither hubby or I completely understand this move.  The boy (23 yo) has been married for 4 years and recently divulged some rather intimate marital news to his father (who later told me, of course) that...well, I don't want to go into details, but I guess, basically, his wife wants time apart to sow her wild oats.  Everybody in the family thinks they should just go ahead and get divorced.  But my stepson is going to give his wife the time and the space she wants.  So in the meantime, he's moving in with us.  *sigh*  And because SHE wants time to fool around with Lord knows who, doing Lord knows what, OUR lives and routines have to be turned upside down??  Something ain't right...But Mama Trish is going to do her best to keep her mouth shut and just do her own thang, as they say.  I will NOT offer advice unless I am specifically asked to do so.  I will NOT badmouth stepson's wife.  I will NOT murmer, mutter, sigh, roll my eyes or give any indication that I disapprove.  I don't have to--hubby will do all of that for me!   Grin

Egads, it's already April!!!

Hair
No wash day, hair is up in a high ponytail with side combs.  I debated not wearing any pins or combs on the sides, just to see if everything would stay in the ponytail (i think it will).  But it's a very windy day and I simply did not want to take a chance.  I forgot to do my vinegar rinse on Saturday, so I'll do one tomorrow morning.

Other
Well, the stepson has indeed moved in with us.  But we really didn't see a lot of him over the weekend.  He was either working or hanging out with his buddies and wife.  Hubby asked him about how long he thought this trial separation will take...stepson said about a year.   Shocked

My daughter, who also lives with us (we keep shoving 'em out of the nest and they keep flying back!!), has been applying for jobs in the Memphis area.  She's currenly working for my oncologist as a sort of general office clerk, but she's very unhappy working there and feels underpaid for the amount of work she's doing.  There just aren't a lot of decent paying jobs in this area that she's qualified to do.  So, who knows?  She may be moving to Memphis!

I've cut waaaay back on my caffeine intake and, boy, am I ever sleeping better!  I'm a tea drinker and I really didn't think I was getting *that* much caffeine.  I would stop drinking the regular stuff around noon and switch to unleaded.  I figured my poor sleep cycles were another side effect of menopause.  Well, when I had bronchitis a couple of weeks ago, I started drinking mostly decaf tea.  I felt bad anyway and figured I wouldn't notice the withdrawal symptoms, if I had any.  I am sleeping so great now--it's fantastic!  I feel much better!

The temperatures have been great lately--we've turned off the heat and have enjoyed open windows for the last 3 or 4 days.  It gets pretty cool at night, but nothing that a blanket and a good snuggle can't fix!

Hair
Wash day, finger-combed hair with a center part, and then let air dry as usual.  Wearing hair down, like I normally do on wash days (sounds like laundry!).  I've started carrying a wide tooth comb in my purse--just in case.  So now I have a comb in my HAC* box at home, one in my purse, and one in my desk at work.  Just in case.  "Cause you never know when tangles may strike!   Grin  Still using Tre'Semme shampoo and Jason conditioner.

Other
Spring is definitely upon us here in Cape Girardeau.  Some of the surrounding counties have been hit pretty hard with tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.  The forecast calls for more of the same in the next few days, so I'll be keeping an eye on the sky.

I haven't been doing my walks lately.  The round of bronchitis kind of knocked me for a loop and I'm just now feeling like I could start exercising again.  Depending on the weather, maybe I'll try to take a walk when I get home from work today.  *fingers crossed*

Well, the stepson moving back in with us hasn't been the big brouhaha that I feared.  Except for the weekends, I really haven't seen a lot of him.  Of course Scott, being home all the time, sees his son a whole lot more than I do, so he's going to bear the brunt of the aggravation--if there is any.

I'll need to call my sister soon (*sigh*) and confirm that she and her hubby are still coming for a visit around the 17th of this month.  The house will need to be cleaned before their arrival.

Hair
No wash day, hair is up in a high ponytail with side combs.  Vinegar rinse scheduled for tomorrow.  Hair is in good condition; healthy, shiny and happy.   Smiley

Springtime in Missouri means severe weather, and we've certainly been having our share of late.  A thunderstorm passed through early Wednesday morning, another one passed through early Thursday morning and yet another is predicted for early Saturday morning!  No damage to our house or land yet, thank you Lord.  But the small town of Caruthersville, MO was pretty much wiped out by a tornado earlier this week.  Most of the town is just gone--GONE!  Can you imagine?  I can't.  I hope I never have to go through a tornado.  That must be one of the scariest things on the face of the earth.

Pinto beans and cornbread, with pineapple chunks for lunch today.  I always bring my lunch from home, usually leftovers, because it's so expensive to eat out every day.  Plus, to me, all restaurant food starts to taste the same after a while.  Scott sure did a fine job of cooking those beans!  I count myself lucky to have a husband who's a great cook.   Grin

I ordered a skirt from Chadwick's last weekend, so it should be here any day now:
http://www.chadwicks.com/product.aspx?PfId=7731&DeptId=8207&producttypeid=1&Purc...

It was a decent price to begin with, I thought, plus they sent me one of those "we miss you" 30% off coupons, then they knocked off the s+h.  When all was said and done, the skirt only cost me $16 and some change.  Couldn't pass it up!!

I love that skirt!  I've been looking for one just like it.   Would it be a bad thing if I bought one too?  Roll Eyes  I wouldn't get all your discounts, but it is still a good price.

Hair
Wash day, so hair is down.  I may break routine and wash again tomorrow, since I'm having lunch with a friend.  This is my new friend who recently began chemo treatments for stage 1a breast cancer.  Last week her hair began falling out.  I remember how that feels...boy, do I remember.  So I kind of want my hair to look its best tomorrow, as a little inspiration for her.  Kind of like, "Look, see?  It DOES grow back."

Isn't it great looking?!   Cheesy  It's so perfect in so many ways...long enough...looks like denim...elastic waist...inexpensive!  We can't pass up perfection such as this--buy one, BB!   Grin  Oooo, which reminds me...my new skirt should arrive either today or tomorrow, YAY!

Looks like a gorgeous day, from what I can see.  I wish I...nah, not going to wish.  Mom used to say, "Don't wish your life away!"  If only she had added, "Get out there and DO it!"   Smiley

Yep - don't wish your life away.  Something my mother used to tell me - if you see something you really want and it is not unreasonably priced, go ahead and get it - it may not be available again!  Keep in mind, I am a frugal person and usually kick myself for not buying something that was a "good deal" or that I could never find again.  So, on occasion, I follow my mother's advice and Go For It!

I ordered the skirt - but I did find a 20% off coupon code that I could use!  Whoo hoo!  Now, if we have have a LL meet, we can both wear our matching skirts and call them the LL uniform.  Grin

Good for you, BB!  I'm glad you were able to buy the skirt.  Mine arrived yesterday and I can't wait to wear it!  When I tried on "the uniform", it felt as comfy as it looks in the catalog.   Cheesy  Yay-rah for us!!!

Hair
Nothing new to report.  No-wash day, hair is up in a ponytail with clips.  Hair continues to look, feel, and be healthy.

Sister telephoned last night to confirm that she+hubby are, indeed, coming for a visit this weekend.  They live in Arkansas and usually split their drive in two; the first half will be a drive to Branson, Missouri and the second half will be to complete the drive to Cape Girardeau.  They should arrive here sometime on Saturday, which means they'll be able to enjoy Easter dinner with us.   Grin

Had a great time at lunch yesterday with my new buddy PR (her initials).  She's so funny--she cracks me up!  And I make her laugh, too, so I think we'll be good for each other.  Her great sense of humour and strong spirit will carry her far during this terrible cancer ordeal.  But I know she'll be fine.  It's a grand feeling to be able to help someone who's experiencing trouble.  It's also a grand feeling to make a new friend!   Thank you, God, for allowing me to do this.

Hair
Wash day.  Hair is down and simply tucked behind the ears (no clips).  Hair looked really greasy yesterday...we've had unusually hot temperatures here for springtime--today it's supposed to reach 85.  85 in April!!!  That's just not right.  And I know the humidity of summer is only a heartbeat away.  So I've been considering buying/using a lighter conditioner than Jason's.  Then when I was getting ready to wash this morning I thought, "You big dummy--why don't you just cut the ratio down to 1:1?!"  One squirt of condish and one squirt of shampoo.  Hey, that's a much better result--not as limp looking!  The key will be what my hair looks like tomorrow on the no-wash day.  I may still buy a lighter condish for summer.  But at least this way I can use up the rest of my Jason.

Other
University is closed tomorrow for a "designated holiday".  *snort*  Good Friday, to the rest of us.  So today is my Friday, yay!  Tomorrow was our regularly scheduled payday.  But since we're off tomorrow, we also got paid today!  Double yay!  I hope this is a good weekend.  I don't want there to be any stress or drama.  There are going to be quite a few different personalities around and most of the time we all get along.  But if anybody starts trouble I *WILL* put them out of my house!  And I'd hate to have to be mean to family on Easter Sunday!!  *lol*

Hair
No wash day.  Wearing side combs and my length is in a low ponytail with three of those terrycloth holders down the length (just for the hey of it).  Top is a bit greasier than usual.  But I washed 2 days in a row, which messed up my routine, and it was very hot yesterday, so I perspired more than usual.

Other
I put up my feeders last Friday afternoon and by Saturday I was spotting them -- hummers!  Yes, I'm a hummingbird freak.   Grin  They just fascinate me so, and I could spend hours watching them.  They're so gorgeous!  Right now we have only 2 feeders in the front yard, but I'm going to buy at least 2 more to hang up in the back yard.  If it was up to me, I'd probably hang hundreds all over the place!  But I think hubby would have a problem with me doing that, so for now I'll restrain myself!   Wink

BB, I'm wearing my new skirt today!  So far I've found nothing negative about it. Well, there is one little thing.  When I washed and dried it, I noticed that the hem rolled up a little.  But a little ironing will fix that.  Or, as I did, you can hang up the skirt with clothes pins all across the bottom (in essence pinning together the front and the back), and let it hang that way for about 24 hours, and the hem will straighten out without ironing.   Other than that little hitch, our skirt is very comfy, and very functional, and I think it's my new favourite piece of clothing.  I wish I had 10 more just like it!!   Grin
